Dust Angel
So do your pets resemble thier namesake? That is, if they were named for something or someone? I was warned on my breed thread when i chose the name i did whilst waiting for my puppy and told a couple of horror stories Still i went ahead and chose Flute, innocent sounding at first, however Flute is the nickname of character that amused me in a David Eddings series. The character (for those that dont know) is the Child Goddess Aphrael, a thief, mouthy, cheeky and prone to dissapearing when things get hairy! Flute has turned out JUST like this character, will steal anything (latest was a bag of clothes, which luckily she decided didn't fit), she will give you the biggest mouth full of cheek if she gets told off and when she is big trouble she makes herself scarce. Luckily enough though she is just like this fictional character and EVERYONE loves her, its damn hard not to. I am beginning to think though that just like Aphrael, Flute will be a child forever My horses Loki, Pandora and Romeo are all just like their names, as is my cat Zulu. I think i made a wise choice with Sienna Anyone else that has named a pet something that they have grown to resemble or did from the start? MavericksMission
Maverick's a bit of a top gun  He isn't really named after the movie Top Gun. I just really liked the name and it was one of the only ones we could both agree on! Edited May 8, 2011 by MavericksMission
Jumabaar
Abby is quirky, huggable, smart and bouncy- just like Abby from NCIS
pixie_meg
Oberon, is the name of the king of the fairies (midsummer nights dream). He definitely thinks he's king a lot of the time. and then other times he'll be off with the fairies, dainty, silly, stupid, all of that.
OSoSwift
Oh - I wish mine were named after someone/something! Although the OH called his dog Brutus - the whole name Brutus Boofhead beefcake. And he is as thick as two short planks and slow moving although loveable
SkySoaringMagpie
Actually, yes. Lucy - means "light" and she is the light of my life. Jadir - means "worthy". Mab - I really should have known better than to name her for the Queen of the Faeries. Still, it's nothing if not apt. Floyd - means "grey haired" and he is a silver grizzle. His registered name means "The Hero". I hope that is a sign of something good Edit: PM, I never put two and two together before. We must arrange for Obie and Mabbie to meet one day! OSoSwift
Just thinking, Lewis's rego'd name is Urban Legend and he does think he is a legend in his own lunch box. Rommi is Lil Sea Urchin and she is little and cute and a bit of an imp, so that works as well
D & D
I have a girl named Dozer. I had a few names picked out for her before she arrived. The minute she arrived here, she plowed straight through the garden.........so Dozer it became :D I also have a boy named Dollop. It's part of his kennel name and, when a few people heard it, they liked the Dollop part (so did I). So, Dollop he became. He's now around 70kgs and people who meet him think I'm weird :p
whiskedaway
Halo was actually named after the Beyonce song. But we were told we were tempting fate naming the naughtiest puppy in the litter Halo, however she is becoming a really well behaved little girl. She has her moments of course, but I think that's normal. Akira means intelligent, and she's definitely not. However, I have since found out that there is a porn star named Akira, and our Akira is definitely a bit of a tart, even though she's desexed. OSoSwift
My Dobe was called Angel and I was told more than once I was tempting fate. She was however a great dog to live with and definately deserved her name. at the porn star!!!!!

Sayreovi
Nova was taken from his breed name......thought long and hard about that one ;) (Nova means new, kinda cool as he was my intro to the breed) Darcy was named after Mr. Darcy out of Pride and Prejudice, he definately lives up to his name through and through! He frequently gets called Mr. Darcy because of the way he acts. (Darcy means dark, he is certainly not that!) Jovi was called that because Bon Jovi was my mum's (and is my) favourite band. I just looked up what Jovi meant and it's Father of the Sky (don't mind the fact she is a girl) How fitting that Jovi is part of my mums favourite band and Jovi was born a few months after she passed! crazydoglady
Stella means "star". And she definitely thinks that she is! But I have always loved the name, but couldn't wait for a girl skin-kid. Glad that I didn't, because I swear every second child under 10 I meet is called Stella.
Pretty Miss Emma
Well, I didn't name Emma (she came with her name). Apparently it means "whole, universal, all containing" Not sure how to interpret that, but she is perfect and everyone loves her and she is wonderful at all things particularly at dealing with change. So if I think broadly about the meaning of her name then I think it fits!!! Then again maybe she was named after Jane Austen's "Emma" - haven't read it so don't know if she's similar!! Kenzie means "handsome" or "fair one". And that she is, she always gets comments about how gorgeous she is!! Her registered name is Trick or Treat. Again, that she is sometimes she's a little ratbag trickster and then other times she's a delightful treat!!!
kitty
lol i have to laugh - I just googled the meaning of Molly, and apparently it means 'bitter' - which is so apt right now - she is getting so cranky at the tiniest things - especially when Beanie annoys her! Beanie is so named because of the bean bag he loved sleeping on as a pup at his breeders.
MavericksMission
I just googled Maverick.. it means Independent. That is definitely true!

Dozer was the runt of the litter but he used to just plow his way through to the food or anything else that took his fancy. His showname is Devil in Disguise and he certainly is a little devil!!! Bully
Pele was named after the "Hawaiian Goddess of Fire and Volcanoes" (not the soccer player, altho' she does love soccer balls )because of her "red" colour. I was worried that Pele could live up to her name and have a red hot temper, but she doesn't. Pele is very calm and placid and builds up slowly and then KABOOM!!! she'll erupt just like a volcano and go feral and race around doing zoomies
