I was warned on my breed thread when i chose the name i did whilst waiting for my puppy and told a couple of horror stories Still i went ahead and chose Flute, innocent sounding at first, however Flute is the nickname of character that amused me in a David Eddings series. The character (for those that dont know) is the Child Goddess Aphrael, a thief, mouthy, cheeky and prone to dissapearing when things get hairy! Flute has turned out JUST like this character, will steal anything (latest was a bag of clothes, which luckily she decided didn't fit), she will give you the biggest mouth full of cheek if she gets told off and when she is big trouble she makes herself scarce. Luckily enough though she is just like this fictional character and EVERYONE loves her, its damn hard not to. I am beginning to think though that just like Aphrael, Flute will be a child forever My horses Loki, Pandora and Romeo are all just like their names, as is my cat Zulu. I think i made a wise choice with Sienna Anyone else that has named a pet something that they have grown to resemble or did from the start? Mab - I really should have known better than to name her for the Queen of the Faeries. Still, it's nothing if not apt. Floyd - means "grey haired" and he is a silver grizzle. His registered name means "The Hero". I hope that is a sign of something good Edit: PM, I never put two and two together before. We must arrange for Obie and Mabbie to meet one day! The minute she arrived here, she plowed straight through the garden.........so Dozer it became :D I also have a boy named Dollop. It's part of his kennel name and, when a few people heard it, they liked the Dollop part (so did I). So, Dollop he became. But we were told we were tempting fate naming the naughtiest puppy in the litter Halo, however she is becoming a really well behaved little girl. She has her moments of course, but I think that's normal. Akira means intelligent, and she's definitely not. However, I have since found out that there is a porn star named Akira, and our Akira is definitely a bit of a tart, even though she's desexed. He frequently gets called Mr. Darcy because of the way he acts. (Darcy means dark, he is certainly not that!) Jovi was called that because Bon Jovi was my mum's (and is my) favourite band. I just looked up what Jovi meant and it's Father of the Sky (don't mind the fact she is a girl) How fitting that Jovi is part of my mums favourite band and Jovi was born a few months after she passed! Apparently it means "whole, universal, all containing" Not sure how to interpret that, but she is perfect and everyone loves her and she is wonderful at all things particularly at dealing with change. So if I think broadly about the meaning of her name then I think it fits!!! Then again maybe she was named after Jane Austen's "Emma" - haven't read it so don't know if she's similar!! Kenzie means "handsome" or "fair one". And that she is, she always gets comments about how gorgeous she is!! Her registered name is Trick or Treat. I was worried that Pele could live up to her name and have a red hot temper, but she doesn't.
