pixie_meg Posted May 6, 2011 Share Posted May 6, 2011 We're trying a kibble at the moment that has 38% protein. Sounds like a lot to me. I know they recommend low protein in growing large breeds but what about adult dogs, whats a good amount of protein and what are the ramifications of too much protein? best4koda Posted May 6, 2011 Share Posted May 6, 2011 We were advised that after our german shepherd got to a certain age (I think 4 months???) to drop the protein down to 26% and below to stop her growing too quickly. I think that is the main reason. I know someone who went to a higher protein once the dogs were finished growing to build muscle on their dogs.
