Urine Smell

hi i have a 12yr old malamute bitch

for the last couple of days i have noticed that she smells awful and on her back end there appears to be stains on her legs plus her fur stinks at rear end of urine

i have bathed her

got rid of most of stains but comes back

she doesnt seem to be urinating anymore than usual ,she has a touch of arthritis in back leg i am using saha's blend for that seems to be working ok

i thought i would post my prob for any feed back or thoughts on subject

if it gets worse i think it be a vet visit

I'd be checking for hormone related urinary incontinence. It's pretty common in older bitches.

Vet visit - sounds as if she is dribbling urine .. poor old girl.

Yes vet visit, my old girl is on Propalin which solves the problem.

might be she is dribbling a little when resting or she can no longer squat down quite the same and is peeing on her fur.

Sounds like incontinance as others have suggested, get her to the vets to have a urine sample tested. While you are there ask about a product called 'Urine Off wipes', you can wipe down her back end and underneath with them, they will neutralise the urine,get rid off the smell and helpstop scalding.
