WildatHeart
I'm going to a small zoo near where I live this weekend and just wondering if anyone's got any tips. Like shooting through cage bars and anything in general. Thanks in advance.
Guest Tess32
My blog has a few articles on shooting at zoos.. Main thing you need is good lighting, as you can't shoot through wire properly if it's very sunny. You need a minimum of 200mm, but 300mm plus is preferable. Try to avoid shots of the animals looking bored, yawning and so on. They are just boring. Try to spend quality time at each enclosure instead of 2 mins and moving onto the next. You'll get the best shots if you wait and watch the animals. Ask the keepers what the best time of day is for a particular animal. Try to go when the keeper talks are on if they have them.
