persephone
It is not an easy transition ..but, I am deleting less and less pics flickr link I find it all very confusing ... even on auto. Think I really prefer the convenience of a P&S ..altho there have been some nice shots with teh DSLR .It likes faces/portraits .. something I haven't done much of it also loves architectural stuff ... we are compromising a lot! Kirislin
Pers, you've got such a great eye for photography and you're so clever at hunting tutorials and info down on the net I know you'll get the hang of it soon, then there'll be no stopping you. raineth
Pers they are amazing! I got my dslr for chrissy. And I enjoy it so much, love love taking photos with it! But I am really really crap at it my photos are really ordinary ;) I have been reading as much on the net (like digital photography school) and I can see some small improvements. but I figure it doesn't matter as long as I'm having fun with it and recording our family in images then that is good. Your photos are already really good so I don't think you should worry at all! I loved those ones you took!

Doing something like project 365 so you are getting the camera out everyday is one of the best ways to improve . Also post lots of pictures on the here (and any other good photo forums as you'll get good feedback that will really help you out.
persephone
Yep -- hard as it is you gotta practise!! And practise! Thanks, folks - I find the awkwardness of having to change lenses is a pain... I love my fuji - goes from supermacro to zoom in a second BUT the images i do get with the Canon ..the ones that work.. I like a lot! ;) like this one .. kids I met on the weekend (I normally don't 'do' people, but this camera/lens likes faces ) ...it looks better larger ,and in full res. this is straight off camera. By the way, if you are interested in taking photos of birds you should think about joining the excellent forums at http://www.feathersandphotos.com.au/ .
