Chihuahualover
i bought a 9 week old Chihuahua puppy with the Parvo Virus last week from a woman claiming to live in Merredin, she advertised in the Quokka as staying in Fremantle. i picked the puppy up on wednesday night and the puppy was sick by friday night, we took him to the vet on saturday night and he was diagnosed with the Parvo virus. we had to put him down saturday night as the virus was so far along. the woman said she had sold 5 other chihuahua puppies and she goes by the name of Leanne. has anyone else bought a pup in the last week or 2 from this person? we have been trying to contact her for the last 2 days and she has switched her mobile phone off. we are looking for answers. please help. persephone
I'm so sorry you lost your new puppy You must be feeling sad and angry and so disappointed. In case you didn't realise .. (apologies if you know this) your house/yard is now contaminated with the virus, and you will not be able to safely have any dog/puppy there that is not FULLY vaccinated. There is cleaner/disinfectant available which will kill Parvo - MOST ORDINARY THINGS DON'T. There is some information on D O L if you CLICK HERE

Chihuahualover
Luckily the dog never made it to my house, i bought it in Perth and i stayed there till Sunday before i came home. the puppy started showing signs of illness on Friday night but i ignored them assuming it was just homesick or something. then on Saturday he threw up 8 times and i stayed by his side all day keeping him hydrated then Sunday morning at 3am he threw up frothy blood bigger than him. it was horrible, i rushed him straight to the vet where i sat crying and cuddling him. the vet nurse disappeared and the vet came out and said "this is the part of my job that i hate" and he went on to say he said a very strong read for the parvo virus. it would cost $2000 for 5 days of treatment and the puppy was so small he would still have less than 10% of surviving. and he would get a lot worse before he got any better, if he got any better. so i elected for him to be put to sleep, it is the hardest thing i have ever had to do. i know i only knew him for 4 days but i loved him and he was so small and so helpless. i have since found out he was sold to me by an evil lady living in Spearwood perth (near fFremantle) Look up "Evil lives in Spearwood" if you are interested in her. she has been doing this for 7 years, the RSPCA is building a case against her but she has restraining orders against many of them. a few years ago they raided her house and put down 30 dogs, all living in tiny cages. they were all suffering from Parvo,Breast cancer, Ovarian cancer, hemorrhoids, and much more, they were living in their own feces and were malnourished with indications of starvation. she is not allowed to breed dogs any more but somehow she keeps finding loop holes and is continuing to do it... since the dog was never in my house or even my town is it still safe for me to eventually get another puppy? (not in the next few months, this adventure has not left me over $1000 in debt)
shells
I am sorry about the loss of your puppy. Whilst you are here on DOL maybe you can take the time to learn how to avoid "breeders" like her and how to find a good ethical registered breeder who will provide you with help and support. There is lots of good info on here and I am sure there are lots of people who would like to help. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...948&st=2310 http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/puppies/chihuahua.asp

michelle&zoey
I'm very sorry you had to go through this. My German Shepherd pup got parvo at 8 1/2 weeks. When I found out she was likely to die I comforted her then trusted the Vets to do their best. It's hard. I would have put my pup down had there been no hope. Mine was lucky. You loved and comforted your pup to the end. I doubt those nasty people would have cared so much.
Dante
How awful! I am so sorry to hear this has happened to you. Can I please recommend the Chihuahua Club of WA, they have a puppy register and can advise you about reputable breeders, if you look at getting another Chi puppy.
