raineth
Generally I find dogs in ads quite nice. But then there are also a few that make me wince! For example: there is one add at the moment for a supermarket brand of dog food, and it features super-cute labrador puppy and the add says something like: *insert brand name* is the best food for a growing puppy. I wouldn't be happy to see any puppy raised on that food. There is also the RSPCA add with the beautiful Afghan. I know a lot of people on here can't stand the RSPCA. So I want to know, if you were approached to have your dog feature in an add by a brand/organisation that you disagreed with, would you be tempted to do it anyway? OSoSwift
It would depend on how badly I disagreed with the organisation or product. The were would be a couple I would not do, but others well if people believe all the hype, then bigger fool them ie **insert brand name** dog food is the best when it is a crap quality food. However as has been said before the best food for your dog is the one it does best on!! There are some organisations I definately would never allow a dog of mine to grace anything connected with them. It is also a reason why even though I like a particular artist and her songs I refuse to buy them. Edited April 18, 2011 by OSoSwift
stormie
I'm pretty much the same as OSoSwift. I'm happy for Orbit to be part of certain advertising/promotions for companies and products I'm ok with. But I don't think I could see him used for products I'm really not ok with - it just wouldn't sit right for me and would kind of feel like I'm selling out
sas
I'm only ok with my dogs being in ads for products/organisations I agree with.
becks
I would turn it down for any product/company that I wouldn't want to purchase from
Sherlot
my bc puppy was on a television show called "the garden gurus" about 2 years ago.. I was happy for him to be on the show, the filming was tedious for such a young pup, but I made sure he got sleep breaks and wee breaks (much to the directors annoyance)... we made them change the script in the making of the show.. their wording was "when you bring your puppy home from the pet store" we made them say "when you bring your puppy home from the breeder" mostly they advertised kongs and kong equipment.. they advertised that wee smell spray - stops your doing weeing on things.. all that sort of stuff.. stormie
It may even be a Guide Dog puppy. A little OT, but in the ads for puppy foods, why do they always put so much food in the bowl!?

I guess if its a guide dog puppy that's a whole different story, because it becomes an issue of raising money for an important cause vs. supporting dodgy dog food and telling people to grow their puppy on it. yeah I know! they have given him a bowl as big as the ones I have for Digby and Delta and its nearly overflowing! But mainly I think they do that becuause it looks better in the shot. And if you do feed your dog that much you're going to buy a lot more food
