Dog Dies After Being Stabbed 11 Times

A DOG has been put down after being stabbed 11 times to the head and body in a disgusting act of animal cruelty in Sydney’s west yesterday.

A passerby found the pitt bull terrier suffering severe injuries on Pitt Street, Merrylands about 10.30pm yesterday.

The man drove the dog to a veterinary hospital in Homebush where vets discovered it had 11 stab wounds to the head and body.

A rope had also been tied around the dog’s leg.

The dog was euthanised a short time later.

Officers attached to Holroyd Local Area Command are investigating and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information to come forward. Any person with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Mother And Son Charged Over Dog Stabbing

A mother and son have been charged after a dog was stabbed to death in western Sydney.

A man found a pit bull terrier with severe injuries at Merrylands about 10.30pm last Thursday.

The man drove the dog to a veterinary hospital in Homebush where vets discovered it had been stabbed 11 times in the head and body and had had its leg tied.

The dog was euthanised a short time later.

Police on Monday arrested a man and his mother at a home in Chester Street, Merrylands, and during a search of the property seized a number of items for forensic examination.

The 20-year-old man has been charged with one count of torture, beat and cause death of animal and has been refused bail to appear in Fairfield local court on Tuesday.

The 37-year-old woman has been charged with concealing her son's actions and been granted conditional bail to appear in the same court on May 10, 2011
