Fatsofatsoman Posted April 13, 2011 Share Posted April 13, 2011 We're heading off camping to Gordon Country (in between Warwick and Boonah) with some friends and our dogs - the campsite is dog friendly and we can't wait. Alibi Posted April 13, 2011 Share Posted April 13, 2011 We have been there twice with the dogs a few years ago and loved it! There were cattle coming through the grounds daily so be aware of that, but they would move on away after abit. There were lots of spiders, big spiders! When going to the toilet block at night shinning the torch over the ground, the ground would reflect with their eyes. The cabins there at night were over run with massive monster ones, im really not a spider fan. Definatley if your dogs are crate trained take a crate, i found it great as i could put them in there crate which they feel very comfortable in when we went on a quick visit to the national park next door. Take fresh water for them too as when we were there the water had to be boiled before use. Have fun, it was a great spot to camp and the dogs loved it! Hopefully spiders aren't too much of an issue - we wont be using the cabins but using tents (hope the tents are spider proof). Our boy will sleep in the tent with us - he's not crate trained but more than happy to sleep at our feet. We are going to use the following system for break times (two labs playing non stop need to be broken up). Two tent pegs or very small star pickets joined by a rather large length of rope with the lead attached to the rope. Should give him plenty of walking space but be kept apart from the other monster. We're hoping to be by the creek for dog swimming - did you guys experience this? Also is it fishable? sorry for all the questions just good to speak to someone who has been. We went for a week last year and had a wonderful time. Only advice would be is to take a chainsaw if you have one. There is lots of wood to collect but a chainsaw would make it so much easier (trees on the ground only!!) . We took an axe and it was quite a work out for OH for the week!! Creek is a great spot for kids and dogs to play (mums and dads too!). We camped across the creek from the amenities block. 3 families ( 2 camper trailers and 1 tent) I am sure you will have a fabulous time. Chainsaw is packed and ready. We've been in contact with the owners to see how hectic it'll be over easter - apparently very few bookings have been made.
