How To Correct Strong Puppy In Play

i have currently four dogs with me at the moment, my two adults then one foster pup and one 5 m.o who i am baby sitting for about 3 weeks from today, so i am guessing i will have four dogs for a while..

My two are great as they are both grown up and have manners and put both young pups in there place if they cross the line which they both need.

But i am having a little trouble with my foster pup who is 12 weeks he is great with the older dogs and by himself he is magical in all aspects but hasn't had much chance at proper socialisation with bouncy pups where manners come into it as he is still learning mouthing/biting and when enough is enough.

He bites the 5m.o female who is just a bit bigger and gentle, she is a bit unsure when he chases her (herding) but it looks like the 12 w.o is playing ruff and grabbing her fur as it is a longish coat, if she keeps coming back for more play does this mean he isn't hurting her and should i let them continue and see if the older pup tell him off?

as it doesn't look gentle but she doesn't look like the one to tell him off when it hurts.

i don't have a crate for settling time so one goes outside and the 12 week old pup stays inside and is made to settle.

but as soon as they both are inside again the game start imediately,

how do i control there ruff play by myself??

should i train them together with food to teach them to relax with each other to get food ?

stuck..

If it was me, I would let them sort it out themselves. If the 5 m.o is getting annoyed and he doesn't stop, then step in and separate them. She needs to learn to tell him to stop herself too.

Maybe you can spend more time with the 12 weeks old too... like more training sessions, more play sessions with you. This way, he is distracted hanging out with you and she is having a break from the puppy.

something i do when i notice the play is rough, is i stop them both and put them in a settle (just wait for them to relax then i let them go again) i do it as many times as i have to, if they keep going over the top they then get a time out or split up for a bit

Voice control is really useful but I think they will sort it out - if your 5mo gets sick of it she will flatten him. I am guessing the dogs are Kelpies - its very typical 12 wo behaviour and the others will tolerate it until they dont so to speak - he just has to stop being a boof head around you. If she is going to him for the ruff up then she is not ticked off with him .... yet.
