Sporting Register

:p I'm really confused and having trouble finding information! :scared:

Ok, first of all - what is the sporting register? what is the point of it?

Can a breeder not registered with the ANKC register puppies on it? Or do they have to be part of a separate organization?

Can non-recognized breeds (eg. Coolie) be registered on the sporting register?

When a puppy is registered, can it have the breeder prefix before the name, or is it like the associate register when a dog is registered as simply "Jess". ?

As on the associate register, is the dogs breed and pedigree not shown?

Why can't these dogs be put on the Limited Register?

Do rules vary from state to state?

:laugh: So many questions, many stupid ones too.

A very simple explanation - associate dogs must be desexed, sports register dogs are registered with another registry (i.e Working Kelpie Council) and can compete in ANKC events but remain entire. :p

Sporting Register is open to specific alternate organisations which keep track of pedigrees - mostly working line herding breeds. If your Koolie has its pedigree registered with the Koolie Club then yes it can be registered on the Sporting REgister. The Sporting Register registers the dog with its full registered name (including breeder's prefix) and allows the dog to compete entire if desired, and the dog's breed and full registered name is shown on competition catalogues.

Partly true, Dogs NSW doesn't even bother to record the parentage on your dogs Sport Assoc rego papers:( Pretty slack when they charge the same amont of money and some of the SR dogs have very long recorded pedigrees.

Therefore the dogs parentage is not entered into the trial catalogue IME, but you do get the luxury of a prefix and not having to desex to compete.

AR dogs can't have a Prefix on the rego papers and must be desexed.
