ruthless
A friend just asked me what she needs to do to keep her dog's record current when she moves house. I know you need to notify council of your change of address, but what about the microchip, is that separate?
W Sibs
pretty sure it's the same thing... also change address at the vets too.

poodlefan
I changed chip details direct with the microchip register. Get home address changed with the vet too!
Keira&Phoenix
Yeah, I thought you had to contact the company the chip is registered with to change it. Not the council. ??
Bundyburger
get in contact with the council to change registration details and chip details, and also notify the vets of change of address. So council do the chip as well? No they don't, it's seperate. The microchip is under a central register, and not connected to the council.. My council doesn't even have my dogs chip details because they haven't asked for it. Address change with your vet too... and don't forget the obvious, if you're going to a new council they'll need new regos entirely! ruthless
I found the change of address form. Here's the link in case anyone [in NSW] needs it in the future: http://www.dlg.nsw.gov.au/dlg/dlghome/dlg_...A&index=301 I've told them to find the m/c paperwork that they got from the rescue group and to contact the appropriate registry too. And their vet.
Mrs Rusty Bucket
You need to tell the new council the micro chip number and the dog's new address. And it's probably a good idea to tell the old council you and the dog are moving - even if you were renting - so nobody tries to return the dog to the wrong home. You need to tell the apropriate microchip register your new details. There was a website that would tell you which register your microchip was with, but I can't find it. You can list with more than one microchip register. This usually involves visiting a vet to get the microchip (and ownership hopefully) verified. It's probably a good idea to have your pet's microchip on the register the vet uses. I went in to get mine checked, it wasn't on the one my vet uses (because AWL used a different register), and the link was broken so the vet couldn't check the other registry either. So for every register the dog is with, the details need to be updated. Probably the most important one is the mobile phone number. ~Anne~
If in NSW and if they are only listed on the NSW CAR, then they complete a C3A and send it to their local Council of the area they move to.

Thanks. I thought when we moved all we did was fill out the C3A, but wasn't sure if that covered everything.
