OurRocky
Hi There, Rocky just had an MCT removed of his hind leg just above his knee, a few of his stitches came undone the first night he was home after the OP so i took him back to the vet the next day and got them replaced and the rest tightend. Over the past week a few stitches have come very loose and the wound has now come apart in the center of a 4 inch cut, only about an inch is open. His stitches were due to come out on monday. I was thinking of taking him back in tomorrow but im not sure what they can do. He isnt in pain, and the wound seems to be clean and its definitly not bothering him he just wants to play.. Any advice would be appreciated.
Bundyburger
If the stitches are due out on Monday, I'd just keep an eye on it.. if it starts weeping or looking nast or you're even slightly suss take him to the vet. If it's not bothering I wouldn't stress too much
Scarlett Dog
can you see if your vet can use glue instead of stitching it again? We found the glue worked better for our girl when she had surgery, as we'd had concerns about her ripping stiches
OurRocky
Thanks for the info guys, i took rocky back to the vet this morning. The vet has said the wound is healing well. There is good granualtion in the open area. He has sugested that i bathe the wound in salty water for the next couple of days and have his remaning stitches out mid next week. Glad to hear that the vet is happy with Rocky's wound. Jessie (now at the "Bridge") had a lump removed from her hind leg just behind the patella (knee) and after a week got to the stitches over night Her vet was away that week. I took her down the beach and bathed it in salt water and it it healed up amazingly quickly. Salt water is fantastic for wounds
