deek
Yesterday afternoon we had to put our 14 year old Sheltie, Max to sleep. Up until Wednesday night Max was quite content. We found out from the vet that he had a very high temperature and his blood tests showed some abnormailities. He was suffering from an infection andmaybe had a tumor in his spleen or liver. We took him home and he is now at rest in our garden. We got Max when he was 3 months old. A fun loving boy who loved to chase the kids up the stairs, lick my legs after a shower and gave unconditional love. He will be sadly missed by us and his brother Denzil. Rest in Peace old mate. Your work here is done.

hortfurball
Hi Deek, you're among friends here. We all walk this path with you, as our beloved friends walk beside your Max. They'll keep each other company until we join them one day. Run free Max, look out for Kuges the big doofus.

deek
We are a bit worried about his brother, Denzil. He doesn't seem to be fretting, but you just don't know. Having said that, we are looking at this little boy. Whilst he's not a sheltie, he looks pretty cute. Although I'd have to change his name. hortfurball
Hi Deek, glad to hear you're doing ok bar those moments. (I totally relate!) I also have a second dog who was not coping so well initially, as having Kuges with her is all she's ever known since puppyhood. I am trying to act as normally as possible, not make too much fuss of her or spend a lot of time reassuring her. Clicker training is also something positive and fun. The collie in the link looks like a cutie. How old are your children? It sounds like they won't rehome to a home where there are young children. So, age shouldn't be a problem and we have a reasonable sized yard. So space isn't a problem either. We're hoping to go and have look at him on Sunday, if he hasn't gone to a new home. We're going to take Denzil with us as well.
