Bartok
This morning we said goodbye to our 9yr old Shepherd 2 days ago he was running around normal, but he got sick on Tuesday night and we rushed him to after hours vets He had fluid around his heart and further tests showed cancer in his liver and spleen. They drained the fluid from his heart to help him and we took him home yesterday. This morning he was ready to be free So he went for his last car trip and he loved the car. He had his head on his favourite ball and he had the sun shining on him and fresh air. The vet climbed in the back of the car and set him free. We love you beautiful boy. We will miss your silliness

MelodysMum
I am so sorry! He looks like a beautiful boy. It is so sad when it happens so suddenly, you think they will be with you until they are old and grey, then suddenly they are gone. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Just out of interest if you don't mind, which vet do you go to? I would love to know a vet who is so compassionate they will do what yours did. I have Dr Stewart at Mt Druiitt Vet. He doesnt have lots of modern equipment but he and his staff and the other vets on Duty are pretty accomodating They even brushed my boy yesterday after he had passed. He was malting and fur everywhere. So they made him look nice before he had to leave They put his ball between his front paws etc. The head vet nurse Louise is very compassionate and caring and she will talk to the animals when they have passed and give them a pat also. It always affects me when it's a sheppie that goes, especially when he's the same age as mine. I'm sorry Bartok. He sounds like a loved boy. They really do take a hold of your heart. Big hugs.
