SeeGee Posted March 10, 2011 Share Posted March 10, 2011 Can anyone recommend a good day pen that would have 2 beagles happily play in safely (high sides) that breaks down so we can take it in 4wd with us when we go camping? We cant let them off lead, so want to be able to set up a play pen for when we arent walking/exploring. We have a crate for them too, but want an additional area. We are planning on doing alot of camping this year, so want to get a good set up going for them to be happy in. I appreciate any ideas. I cant open the first link cos im at work (no ebay) but the second one looks like what we want....just we need it to be higher. are those pens pretty sturdy? Otherwise try Vebopet, eBay, Deals Direct, etc. Top Buy have a few, both wire and soft pens up to 107cm's tall that are reasonably priced http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Carries...Houses-c161.htm If you wanted more room you could easily connect two together. The panels can be turned either ways to suit how high you need the pen. 3 packs are enough to go around a 3mx3m gazebo. I dont know how far it would go if you turned the panels up.. If the dogs are jumpers I have found the pen does give way. so a couple of stakes down the centre would hold it upright. Or if your using it around a gazebo, place 2 opposite corners on the outside and the other 2 corners on the inside of the posts..thats enough to make it sturdy incase the dogs jump up. It's very versatile - we quite often use two or three panels at a time across doorways or more panels to go across the driveway, if we need to separate visiting dogs for a bit. We first bought ours when our cat was very ill and couldn't jump, but needed a largish portable safe area I could reach in and out of easily. I haven't used them for exactly the purpose they were designed for, i.e. I haven't put all the panels together and pegged them into the ground, because the dogs seem to respect the rattling/crashy noise if the panels get moved on a solid surface.
