Roguedog Posted March 7, 2011 Share Posted March 7, 2011 Hi, I would not normally put something like this in the training section but this is a bit of an unusual thing for me... ive had some female purebred malinois pups surrendered to me as it was an accidental litter from two working dogs and the company that owns them just simply doesnt have the time to do the right thing by them... they are lovely girls but are very high drive and high energy, they need a working home... they will be desexed, vacc and chipped prior to homing... anyone interested please contact me via PM... Although Schutzhund is another one of those things down here in Victoria where politics has gotten in the way of the sport being able to be conducted as it should. Could try other dogsport clubs too - tracking clubs, agility clubs, etc - so long as you emphasise how much work they are (i.e., they can be more like a lifestyle than a pet, they want a job to do, really need an owner who is experienced with dogs and who will put lots of time into them every day - definitely not generally suited for someone that just wants to train the dog once or twice a week & have it loiter around the house the rest of the time). Yup, was just wondering as different lines can be suited for different things, so most WL mallie buyers will definitely want to know about the sire & dam's lines, you'd want to put this info in any advert if you have it. Belgian shepherd, short hair. Belgian as in from Belgium, its like saying Germany shepherd. Shame they're going to be desexed at a young age, I like working dogs to stay entire particularly the males. Then again goes against rescue try specialist canines also try calling the prisons, Steve Austin at Pet Resorts Australia always has time for another dog or knows someone who will take them. No worries. May I ask who the EDD trainer is? is the dog going to be supplied to a private company or government department? I am not allowed to purchase desexed dogs for the department I am selecting dogs for, good luck finding homes for the rest. I will ask around at a training night tomorrow but I am not sure any other departments will be interested as the pedigree is not known and they will be desexed. ETA: The security company should not be breeding dogs and I doubt would have the expertise involved for properly training dogs for this role, especially Belgian Malinois. I would be interested to know what the name of the company is? It is rare these days but I sometimes complete training for Security Company's and dog handlers and I would hate to be associated with these people. Could blow their chances of a decent working home if they've done nothing with them Greetings to all, I work in Europe many years with the German Shepherd, Dutch Shepherd and Malinios, interested from this add, I have an understanding lack of this imprinting before 8 weeks for the working dog. I think to me this is rediculos as most of the beautiful working dog had nothing to do till 12 months, please I am intetrested in this because if the pup cant do work without an imprint is not a good pup. Many a green dog I take have nothing sometimes 2 years, if is good dog it can do the work you train to him, if not the dog is no good, nothing to do with imprints of a baby. Jeff Jones Posted March 9, 2011 Share Posted March 9, 2011 (edited) Nobody stated a dog without early imprinting would not make it in to a suitable candidate. by completing early imprinting and socialisation you are increasing your chances of the pup developing in to a suitable candidate for service dog training. It also gives the breeder a chance to assess the litters development and response to stress. Studies have proven litters exposed to imprinting and socialisation in the first 8 weeks are healthier and have a greater resistance to stress than litters which have not received any early imprinting and socialisation.
