Vickie
You know your dog is keen when: you walk out the back door with a motivator & your dog runs away from you at top speed to line up in front of the closest obstacle your thighs are permanently covered in multiple bruises from dogs launching for the toy your dogs go out of their way in zoomies to take obstacles on the way round your dog places a slimey tennis ball in the pram of a baby for it to throw Anyone else? give me your things that make you smile Edited March 3, 2011 by Vickie
ness
Dog finds motivator/tug toy that you didn't even know was buried deep in the garden the moment you walk out the back door and then throws it in your lap and waits staring hopefully for you to ask for something. JulesP
You walk out of the back door with your treat container and 3 border collies bolt for the gate and start trying to get out to the training area! When they do the above after being out at herding all day When you are wondering down the drive way to get the mail and look down to find a dog trotting along perfectly at heel offering lovely focus. When after a 2 day herding clinic the dog is still pulling you to get into the sheep paddock and you have to coax it away to take it home. You arrive at dog school and your dog starts squealing with excitement.
Dogs4Fun
You have your dog sitting at heel, staring up adoringly into your eyes. You bend down to adjust your shoe and it explodes up into the air to meet you, clonking you on the nose. You grab your nose and say some naughty things. Your dog doesn't recognise these words as commands, but runs through a few things in front of you, just in case it can please you. *Rubs at sore nose* ETA: She's only a baby, and didn't know any better. W Sibs
- when she starts doing her happy dance when you bring out the clicker because she knows clicker means training. - when she grabs your hand letting me know it's time to do some TID - when she gets her tug toy and starts hitting you with it. - when he sits in heel position and looking up adoring up at you without you asking. ~Rumour~
Randomly runs through a variety of tricks in front of you, even though you have said absolutely nothing (he especially likes doing this right in the middle of my favourite TV. shows) All in the hope that out come the clicker and tug toy..... corvus
You walk out of the back door with your treat container and 3 border collies bolt for the gate and start trying to get out to the training area! See, I had that kind of thing (and the bruised thighs) happening with Erik, only, being Erik he took it one step further and started barking and trying to drive Kivi away from the gate to the training area. The neighbours don't like my keen dog. He is too noisy. The other day I was accompanying a tradie around the house with a treat stick in my hand to help Erik overcome his need to make a lot of noise. Every time I stopped, Kivi nudged his way into heel position and sat there gazing up at me, waiting for me to notice and reward him. Awww, he's so cute. Jumabaar
You still go to training a few days after ankle surgery and are on crutches to watch a class so you don't miss out on learning anything for them When you set up a crate and leave the door closed and you have three dogs bashing on it to try and get in (only up to step 3 of crate games lol) Edited March 3, 2011 by ~Woofen~
B-Q
Your instructor sets out cones as markers for stays and sits and downs... your dog gets near them and thinks its a shaping game, follows your command at each cone and then dives on the nearest cone and starts offering nose touches and rear end awareness behaviours. HugL
Diesal&Ryder - why do they have to do it during your favorite show? And it's the only time he's motivated Agility trial at 35 weeks pregnant. Delivering premature within a week and getting first leg of AD 5 weeks later with milk-laden breasts. (The video is hilarious!)
Aidan3
They smash the window when waiting patiently at the door doesn't work. They drag a lounge chair in front of the TV you were trying to watch.
The Spotted Devil
Well, I know my Dally is keen to sleep-in when I can't get him out of bed until lunchtime the day after a trial I knew Em was keen when the initially unattractive activity of swimming became her reason for living once she saw a live duck on the lake! Mrs Rusty Bucket
Dog barks continuously while I spread my toast with promite then as soon as I turn for the door, she bolts for her crate. We love breakfast time. She goes in crate and gets a little bit of toast in the crate for each bit I eat.
