trifecta
Oh Cathy, Mack will know how much he is missed. A measure of a life, is the intensity of love shared with others & not the brevity of the time he was with you. He was a special dog & that love will stay with you forever. k9angel
Rachel I wonder if you would be so kind as to post my heartfelt condolences for the passing of Mack, please. I followed the thread with tears in my eyes and lump in my throat. He blossomed so quickly with care and love and what Cathy says about how she felt for him is along the lines of how I feel about Mufti. I have been so much luckier though and have had Mufti now for 20 months. She and Mack had each other for only a few, but what a few they were. Two gladiators: Cathya and Mack. R.I.P. Clyde
It is with unbelievable sadness that I let you all know that yesterday I lost my gorgeous boy Mack. Those of you that knew my Macky knew that at 11.5 years of age, he struggled with aggressive bone cancer and its associated problems. Mack has, and I'm sure will always be, my most rewarding and heartbreaking rescue ever. He has been my dearly loved friend and a dearly loved and respected member of my doggy pack. We all miss him terribly. I read a post recently about rescue making you lose your mind but find your soul. I found my soul with this boy. Having Mack in my life has changed me - for the better I think. I have never felt such compassion and love as I felt with Mack in my life. The vet told Macky yesterday that he should have been a 'gladiator' because of his determination to survive all odds but sadly yesterday my gladiator got too tired of the fight. I am heartbroken (and my doggies at home are fretting terribly over his absence). Please say your most heartfelt prayers for my beautiful gladiator boy and pray that he is running pain free and that he knows how loved and missed he is xxx I'm sorry for your loss Sometimes, it's the dogs we have in the shortest time that leave the biggest impact. KKDD
Cathya, thanks for bringing the story of Mack to us. His journey has been inspirational and I have smiled, laughed and cried as I followed it on this thread. Im so sorry you have now lost this beautiful boy. Despite the terrible condition he was in when you got him, he clearly had a wonderful life with you, and brought a lot of happiness to you and to us readers of his story. Perhaps his legacy will be that more people will now choose not to write off old and damaged dogs in future as 'hopeless cases', less worthy of rescue. Mack was certainly not a hopeless case, and, thanks to you and others who had the courage and compassion to rescue him, his life has ended on a very positive note. Little Gifts
I have just seen this and the water is falling from my eyes yet again. This story is evidence of how many wonderful and caring people are here on DOL and the many amazing dogs who despite what they have been through give back ten times more than they get. One person can make a difference.

Stefie
I couldn't do it. I'd cry every time I walk past the box! I've go mine buried in a corner of the property where they used to hang around. I know they are there enjoying themselves in their favourite spot.
