Guest Willow
Skinkid is at the age where she wishes to "share" all her food with whomever is standing near (the lady in the queue at Kmart could have scored a half eaten rice cracker if she had been quick enough!!! ), this of course includes the dogs. Whilst I don't have a drama with her giving them treats under supervision, I don't want them hovering like vultures whenever she eats, or stepping it up a notch & taking food from her when she's trying to eat. I've been teaching them to refuse food offered by her, unless I give a specific command, and this afternoon, she was eating a rice cracker in her playpen, and was cooing at them & waving it enticingly through the bars at them. I gave them a reminder they weren't to touch the food, and they both turned their backs on her & stayed watching me :D (i also redirected my daughter, and when she's old enough she'll learn not to tease them with food). So proud that they have "got it" (both are older rescues).....just a small thing, but it makes such a difference to our lives......
