Loyal K9
We have a small terrier that turns into a bear everytime we try to cut or dremel her nails. So I want to try filing them by hand, with no sound of electrical motor like dremel. Can someone suggest the best nail file that does the work well? I need something that will file the nails reasonable quickly. Where can I buy it? Thank you.

oakway
Go to your local hardwear store and buy a file, like the one your dad has or had in the garage. Great for dogs nails. I think they are refered to as Bastard Files.

It may be a bit rough for a Terrier, try a 'second cut' one, you'll get a smoother finish and no tearing of the nail.
Red Fox
This is a pretty novel way to do your dogs nails, sounds like fun too http://www.shirleychong.com/keepers/nailfile.html

You can get very fine ones that do a great job. The ETs didnt mind at all once they got used to it.
