Rileys mum
Ok so im forced into boarding my dog for 2 weeks due to me being sent over to help with the earthquake in NZ. Ive looked at my boys vaccination card and im slightly concerned he may have missed a dose. Its got two c3 vaccinations and a kennel cough nasal spray on it. one of the c3 was when he was around 8 weeks old and the second at about 13 weeks old. both these were given by his breeder before i got him. When i picked him up i made an appt with my vet to get his final vaccinations. On that appt he was given the nasal spray and i was told he was now covered until 12 months time. they wrote the date on my vaccination card when he was next due and it was 12 months ago next month. Does it sound right to you guys? i think he should have gotten a c5 when i took him to the vet but being new to it all i obviously either didnt pick up on it or trusted the vets opinion. am i risking my boys health boarding him with his current vaccination status? would i even be aloud to board him? arghhhhh im a little stressed. I fly out friday.
OSoSwift
There are vaccines that they can have the last one at either 10 or 12 weeks depending on brand. The intranasal Bordatell lasts for 12 months. If you are worried ring your vet and check but to me he sounds up to date, not having actually seen the card! Rileys mum
hmmm after doing some reading it appears that 2 c3 vaccinations as puppies plus a KC are considered ample now days. I hope im reading it right. interesting reading actually. overvaccination etc.

aussielover
What is it you are worried about the C3 or the KC? He should definitely be covered for the KC for 12 months since the last vaccination. The C3 has a number of different schedules, depending on the brand. Some require 2 vaccinations and some require 3. If he was on the 2 vax C3 schedule, he sounds all up to date to me, but best check with the vet
Sandra777
Maybe a bit OT but check with the kennels as most require C5 and won't accept C3 - which is why mine never go to kennels.
aussielover
I thought a C5 was the same as C3 + Kennel Cough (2 strains) I know of quite a few kennels that won't accept the KC injection, only the intranasal vax.
