I am looking for some good information on retriever training. Any suggestions of books, dvds, web sites would be welcome. I also need suggestions for training my dog to mark without a thrower. And I prefer to use positive methods for training. Thanks in advance.

Have a look at the retrieving thread in this forum first. It might answer some of your questions. Most of the references use traditional methods and you need to adapt more positive reinforcement techniques. There is still a lot to learn from the traditional methods - you just have to be selective about what you use.
