Jed
Not if the new constitution is written in some way that protects them from being voted out. Something as simple as "all nominations for council must be put forth by an existing councillor and seconded by another" would do it. I think you are right there Do you seriously think they would do that. I think you need to wake up and realise that not everyone in the world is out conspiring against you. Believe it or not there are alot of people in the world who don't just think of what is best for them and actually go out of their way to try and do what is best for everyone involved. Actually, I don't think everyone in the world is conspiring against me. And when I do think there is a conspiracy, I am usually correct Over time I have discovered that a lot of people, committees etc are not without agendas and bias, so I take that into accout when making judgments.. It's up to each member to vote as they see fit. We will no doubt find out what is going on later Steve Any changes to the constitution have to be voted on anyway. Yeah, by the council. oakway
Im would like to know why we need to put our names against the vote ??? I have never been involved in a vote where this was required. x 2 Because they will mark your name off so they know you haven't voted a thousand times. The vote should have been placed in an unmarked envelope with your name and number on the outer envelope. People you are not voting for a third world war. If you all vote the staff will be to busy to remember who voted for what. This is what has been asked for, for years. Yes it is been done quickly and corners have been cut. But you have the choice now to vote for what you have been asking for.

I don't know the people on the council, I'm not saying they would or wouldn't - I'm saying there is a chance really dodgy things can be done. That's all. And there's no way in hell I'm voting on anything with my name on it.
conztruct
I only received mine yesterday, voted and put it in the post yesterday afternoon. I hope it gets through to meet the deadline set. I must say that there's been very little notice provided to do this.

Its your choice and I don't have a problem with that.

Don't try and be smart with me. We live in a democratic society, and I don't have a problem with that either. All I was say saying is thats it your choice and I don't give a dam which way you vote. sheesh.
Jed
I would be surprised if names and numbers on voting papers are legal, particularly as the votes are being returned to the council. The names should have been on a separate envelope which was separated from the voting paper, checked against membership lists, and destroyed before counting took place, and I suspect that should happen in an independent place ... ie, auditor etc. to ensure the validity of the count I don't suppose there will be a problem .. unless someone complains (not me, I don't have a problem). Correct on all accounts. But I think we may have to forgive them this time as it had to be organized quickly. Please members vote and have your say. If you wish to abstain that's your right of choice as in any democratic society where voting is not compulsory. (pardon the pun) (or more so an oxymoron)
