redangel
Since getting a macro lens I am in awe of the little things that happen day to day in my garden. I rarely use fly spray as any hapless fly often ends up as sport for Miss Rosie, the resident canine fly exterminator. I have several daisy bushes outside my windows...all containing resident flower spiders. These game lil spiders will take flies much bigger than themselves thankfully ensuring I dont have to use fly spray.
Kirislin
wow, that has a gruesome beauty about it, if such a thing is possible.

Kirislin
Hey, was there anything unsual about that fly, looking at it again it doesn't look like a normal house fly, I'm wondering if it might be one like this, of which I've only ever seen 2 before. If it's not the same it might be a similar species, I think I can see patterning on your little victim. If so it might be a tachinid fly. redangel
What a face there Kirislin ...I like! My victim does definitely look like that guy when you look closer.
Kirislin
I didn't want to hijack your thread but it looks like it has white spots on it and they might not be exactly the same as "my" fly but it could be related. Pay attention next time you see a fly cause I think they might be a bit unusual.
redangel
No hijack...I love getting to know more about my subjects. I googled tachinid fly and found some super info here http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_tachinids/index.html I have the green ones everywhere...they are tachinid flys too...whod guess! Very interesting: thanks Kirislin!
Kirislin
Never thought I'd think fly photos are beautiful but that first one sure is.
