leopuppy04
Hi Guys, I haven't read through the whole thread yet, but I am looking at getting my girl done ASAP. does anyone have any particular recommendations of who they would send their x-rays too? Anyone been disappointed with any of their x-ray results?
Allerzeit
I had a girl of mine x-rayed today, they are now using IVA to replace Wyburn, cost was $550. I had two done last year at a cost of $450 each, so $100 increase.I am in Tas. Ouch! We had Feonix done at Eastern Shore a few weeks ago, which cost us $290, not including reading - so came out at about $370 including reading. I was happy with the x-rays, and liked that they were digital. The vet was easy to deal with and he was very conscious of making sure that we were happy with what he'd done. It was a BIG price difference to the almost $700 we paid for Neo's x-rays and reading just before Christmas! leopuppy - we will continue to use Lavelle for our readings now, I'm happy to recommend him
angelsun
a friend heard a rumour that Wyburn was open to reading again... has anyone else heard this? When we were figuring out who to send xrays to, we called his wife and spoke to her at length about his medical issues. He won't be reading again (if she has anything to say about it)

angelsun
that's up to you....I have had mine done in the middle of the cycle, and this last one was done on day 10!! There is no documented proof that the hips will be different based on heat cycles.
ish
I read recently that Karen Hedberg advised the GSD council that there was no reason to hold off immediately after a season, but 9 weeks after a season should be avoided

The ligaments holding the hips in, slacken off as the prog levels drop and whelping time approaches. This happens whether the bitch is pregnant or not. Parkeyre
Update: I took one of my dogs to be xrayed today. I arrived at 1.30pm with the dog, she was xrayed and collected at 3.30pm. I had the scores emailed to me at 6pm. Every single person I met was lovely and polite. They were very good with the dog and had everything done in amazing time! For those interested; Xrays were performed at Mount Barker Veterinary Clinic by Sarah L Van Breda, and were handed to Rob Rawlinson to be read and scored at that time. The breakdown in price is as follows: Consultation: 42.00 Anesthesia: 155.00 Radiology - Hip Dysplasia Radiograph: 112.00 - Additional Radiograph Views: 93.40 Total: $402.40 Hip + Elbow reading: 100.00 Total: $100.00 TOTAL: $502.40 I will happily recommend both Mount Barker Veterinary Clinic and Dr Rob Rawlinson to anyone in SA or willing to travel. Wow a clinic that actually reads them right there and then! I'm impressed! Whilst the cost is a little higher, the service sounds great! I wish I lived in SA. Out of interest, how were the scores? Whilst the cost is a little higher, the service sounds great! I wish I lived in SA.Out of interest, how were the scores? Yes; I knew the price was higher and it was a 900km round trip (13 hours of driving total) but I had heard good things from both the clinic and the scorer. I spoke with Rob over the phone and via email until I was totally confident, and was happy to travel such a length for a great service. Xrays were done on a bitch that had her 2nd birthday earlier in the year, so I didn't expect them to be as great as if I had had her done on her 1st birthday. Silly me also did them exactly eight weeks after the last day of her season. Results were still great! not perfect zeros, but close, and I'm very happy. Risyntira
As people may have read early on in this thread I had my dogs xrays done and scored February this year. Here are my first lot of xrays Lavelle scored these 10:6 I wasn't happy with the xray position or the score so requested my vet do a second xray Lavelle scored these 9:4 I was still not happy with these scores, both Shelby's parents have very low scores and I was very disappointed so I sent them to Rawlinson in SA and he have the second lot of xrays a 3:1 I'm over the moon with those and I HIGHLY recommend Rawlinson! I sent the second lot of xrays on Monday and had the results by today (Saturday) Edited October 1, 2011 by Risyntira
