Kirislin
My friends have a young dog just having his second race tonight but already showing great promise. In his very first race he ran second and went into the semi final which was run this evening. He ran second again so goes into the final next week. It's a great start for such a young dog, most of the others are more seasoned racers. Unfortunately I didn't get very good pics of his race, I did better with the first race. It was after I took them I got bailed up by security and I was a bit flustered after that. Here's some shots of the first race. Some dogs get quite alot of height. That's the real double suspension gallop for you. this is heavily cropped. Edited February 10, 2011 by Kirislin

Kirislin
This is Texems race, I've had to crop these alot, I dont have a long enough lens. Coming from the boxes, he was mid field He's got the blue jacket, #4 then after a full circuit he's just in the lead with the 3 getting up on his inside and the 3 has got him. The winner is a more experienced dog though, this was only Texems second race and he's placed 2nd both times. He's now into the final next week. He ended up running second but he's just a baby and still learning. Usually dogs dont go into heat races when they are just starting out, so he's doing incredibly well already. His brother won almost $300,000 in prize money and was a finalist in the 2010 Greyhound of the year so if this little one is anything like his big bro they'll be very happy. So far the signs are good.

Kirislin
Last night was the final of the heat he placed 2nd in last week. And guess what???? He won!!!!!!!! He jumped well from box 2 and quickly got his position on the rail. took the lead, which was lucky cause on the bend they all bunched up and a few got into bother, not Texem though. He got well clear in the back straight and by the home turn it was all Texem!! Up the home straight, not another dog in sight, Texem has his first win, blitzing the field by 12.5 lengths!! Very difficult conditions to take pics under as no flash is allowed and I tried 3200 ISO on some test shots on the first race and they were awful so I dropped it down to 2000 and had to slow my shutter to 1/500. I'm not thrilled with the pics but I am thrilled for my friends that he won.
