What's Been Your Latest Advice For Vaccination Schedule?

Have been doing a bit of research on vaccinations as Sally is "due".

The topic is a bit debatable within vets.

RSPCA has replied to my queries and recommends all usual puppy ones , then another yearly dose 12 months after the last pup one, then every 3 years after that.

What's been your advice? thanks

The current AVA schedule is what the RSPCA has told you. Puppy vaccs, first booster 12mths later and then every three years after that. Most vets however are still pushing yearly vaccs or 'super' vaccs. Not necessary. Get the NORMAL vacc every three years.

Can someone please supply me a link from the AVA as to this 3 year vaccination.

I saw an article on TV earlier today which was talking about 3 year vacs. Well i missed half of it.

I am loath to get my kids vaccinated every year and I want to give this 3 year vac a go. BUT the kennels I take my dogs to(dont get me wrong she is a lovely lady) were saying that they cant get done unless it is an increased booster to last the 3 years. Not just a booster that is administered evey year. And this was from the boarding kennels assoc I think.

My puppy has just had the last C5, Vet said do again in a year then every three years or titre testing.

The Duramune vaccination is approved for 3 year use, so I would use that one in order to get a vet certificate that states as such.

I had a discussion with a couple of my vets about it.

So if I stop the C5, I still need to get Kennel Cough done every year (and one of the other 5) and then the others can be done three yearly or get titre testing. Overall - doing it in bits and pieces would cost more than getting the C5 annually, so if she shows no adverse reaction to the C5 - might as well keep doing that. Sigh.

I may have to investigate the actual costs of individual bits and pieces in more depth but for now, we got the C5 again, and that will save some grief when we renew membership at dog club and when she goes to boarding kennels.

I keep meeting people who say their dog has a bit of a "doggy cold" ie kennel cough - but they're not isolating it till it gets better - argh. They're still taking it for walks and letting it greet other dogs. Yikes.

Cost should not be the issue - the issue is whether your dog needs to have the vaccines pumped into it every year when 3 yearly is enough to give them protection.

I've just gone through trying to work this out for my girl. It's so confusing We have just signed up to start agility so I needed to show proof of vac. I enquired about titers but where I live they are sent overseas so would take to long to get the results. I ended up having to give her the C5, next year she will just get titer's.

ETA. I was told regardless that she would still need kennel cough(canine cough) annually.
