Oliver Wang
Hi there. My nine week poodle pup is chewing everything and we give him lots of toys but he still nips our feet. When we gave him a pig ear he would chew on it the whole time until now, which was when we found it was bad for him so we took it away. We sprayed our feet and slippers with bitter spray but he licks it and and bites our feet a bit gentler. Please Help!
BMAK
use the word no maybe ? remove anything that a puppy would chew, and replace it with a dog toy that is allowed to be chewed and praise when the dog chews that instead of you fingers/toes. Socks become fun for tug toys so make sure they are in a drawer ahah
poodlemum
Poodle puppies love to chew!!! As catherine.b said - every time he chews your feet or nips at you say NO very firmly & give him something he is allowed to chew (a rubber bone or similar). Good luck with your puppy & congratulations on choosing the world's best breed (not that I'm at all biased )
luvsdogs
He's a baby & needs to learn the rules of the house. Dogs don't have hands so they explore everything with their mouths. Do you leave all the toys out at once? or do you rotate them? You would have only had him a week so everthing is new to him. http://dogstardaily.com/training/raising-puppy
sas
There are plenty of things your puppy can chew including pigs ears. They're not unsafe if given with care i.e. don't give them to a dog that doesn't chew well and choose ones made here in Australia so you know they are chemically safe. There are Deer ears which are a low fat one that loads of dogs do just fine on. Here is an Australian vendor you may be interested in: http://stores.ebay.com.au/Dog-Food-2-U Puppies must have something to chew on, if you don't want to use animal ears then try Chew Toys. As for the biting problem, I'd reccomend this video for you: Edited January 31, 2011 by MEH
Oliver Wang
Thanks to everyone. we'll keep trying. To Luvsdogs, he's got a few all at the same time, maybe we should rotate them.
