Staff'n'Toller
Anyone ever installed one of these? Pet Peek I have the idea in my puppy school manual, but it came from another trainer's environmental enrichment info. I'm really curious as to whether they'd decrease or increase barking. sas
Have seen them before. Depends on the dog, my 2 would use it to find something to bark about.
D & D
I have Danes. They could look over the fence without one. I also have an odd mental picture of a Dane head over the fence and a weirdly distorted belly view through the window

Yes I had a feeling mine would too. However I wondered if I could teach them not to bark and just to watch..since I can close access to the fence in question. Whippetsmum
Someone in my area has put cut outs in his fence for the dogs to look through. I can't walk my dogs past that house any more because the dogs in the yard go psycho everytime another dog walks past, they sound so incredibly agitated/overstimulated, and not happy at all. I can't help but think that it would be kinder for these dogs not to be able to look out. The main problem though is that the dogs bark and sometimes snap at people because there is no cover to their spy hole, and it's large enough for the head and neck of the dogs to reach out. I saw an old man walking by these dogs, he was tottering along, obviously recovering from a stroke, and although the dogs didn't reach him, the dogs leaned out barking and the poor old man almost fell over. LizT
It reminds me of that "What's that dog looking at?" clip in the "Funny Home Video Show"??!! (my kids used to watch when they were little) You know where the Schnauzer (I think) walks up to the fence and sticks his head through a hole. A bit voyeristic, don't think the neighbours would like it. I used to get peeved when the neighbours kids used to stand and stare into our yard when they were little (wire fence), glad they grew out of that one! helen
A house near me has a square cut out of the fence (fenceline at the footpath) with a pretty solid looking wire grill covering the gap. As I don't walk that way just drive I have never seen a dog at the cut out bit
