I maybe worried about nothing but how long should the bitch bleed after the pups are born, it just does not seem to be slowing, the pups are all doing Great 8 days old now, and she seems ok in her self. Can not take her to the vet as there is a big out break of parvo here at the moment.

did she have a large litter or extra large puppies? could mean some trauma or retained afterbirth.

If it is heavy still she will need some AB to help heal the trauma, if its not heavy bleeding keep a very close eye on her, she prob will eventually need to see a vet, unless it is light bleeding which can go on for 6 weeks or more.

Bleeding as in bleeding as if from a wound 8 days after birth IMO should be checked out. A bit of discharge which is bloody but not fresh blood is normal.

Just done this with my girl China, vit K, oxytocin (sp!) and ABs and when the pups were over 7 weeks old she finally stopped bleeding. Not a fun experience

Thank you all for the comments. The Bleeding has slowed a lot today and it is hot hot hot 42, so I think she is getting over it, She did have a big litter but it was pritty normal birth 5 1/2 hours 9 puppies. She is doing a great job with the pups so do not wan't to put them at risk at this stage. She is very active and eating and drinking is good. the pups are gaining weight every day about 50g each.

Last litter I bred was 11 puppies - Sophie was still bleeding a week afterwards. I rang the vet & he said that if it was the dark blood then nothing really to worry about - Sophie was quite happy & healthy & the pups were feeding well (she had oxytocin and a thorough examination shortly after the birth, so I was not worried about a retained placenta).
