AshleyB
Posted by: "Tom Couchman" on OzShow The official 10.00am Bureau of Meteorology forecast for Penrith on Wednesday indicates a maximum temperature of 39 Degrees which places the Library & Archives Committee show under coverage of the Dogs NSW Extreme Weather Regulations (Part II - 19.1). Penrith Summary Min 22 Max 39 Possible shower. Becoming cloudy. The chance of showers in the afternoon and evening. Winds north to northwesterly averaging up to 20 km/h tending south to southwesterly up to 40 km/h during the afternoon The Committee Chairman Peter Nordstrom and Show Secretary Marilyn Parker have considered the forecast in detail and the prospect of rain in the afternoon and evening led them away from moving the show to the evening. The following changes/precautions have been decided: 1. The Show will commence at 7.30am with Sweepstakes (instead of 8.00am). 2. Shower hoses will be fitted to taps at strategic points around the grounds. 3. Judging will proceed without any meal break. I also remind exhibitors of the following Regulation 19.1.1 If, at any Show, an exhibitor considers that the heat conditions are or may be prejudicial to the comfort or welfare of their exhibit/s, they may leave the grounds immediately with no penalty or other consequence in relation to any award that may have previously been made at that show. Wilbur
Good idea to start early, then people/dogs can get home before the main heat of the day

SkySoaringMagpie
Just checked the Bureau of Meteorology forecast for Penrith as at 5:14pm and its going to be 42 degrees Does this warrant for the show to be cancelled/post poned? Is a ribbion really worth it??? The forecast top is not the temperature it was during the morning. The show itself was completed by lunchtime. These observations for the closest weather station were posted on OzShow: 26/12:30pm31.8 26/12:00pm31.4 26/11:30am30.8 26/11:00am30.5 26/10:30am30.0 26/10:00am27.7 26/09:30am26.0 26/09:00am24.8 26/08:30am23.7 26/08:00am22.4 26/07:30am21.1 Not so long ago people were saying it was terrible some of us were considering going to shows in Grong Grong as Wagga had been subject to flooding. The whole time were were there we encountered water over the road once only and did not encounter SES at all. We did however spend a fair bit of money in the town so I'm sure the locals were happy to see us. I will be the first to say it's stupid to put your dogs and yourself at risk, but there is also a lot of armchair pontificating on this subject that is not backed up by the facts. I am hoping more NSW shows take the lead of this one and do early starts on forecast hot days.
