Had a great night at agility tonight. Xena was flying, although we had a couple of little arguments about contats and she walked off one course at heel.

CK just keeps getting better and better. No cards for him, although he did get his part of the team event right.

This is Xena's Open B jumping run.

Well we had a good weekend as we alwasy do Qs or not lol.. This weekend provided a few Qs  Q and 3rd in ADO Behind an AgCh and a dog that probably should be lol so I was thrilled Den put on the skates for that one  Q and 10th in GDX andd Q and 7th in JDM good boy boof.. Only sad point to bring up is the amount of motivating Den needed at points to get him around courses  We're gonna have to rework that.. But still happy with our results

Went to Gawler (SA) for the Mock trial and offical measuring.

Got lost. Eventually found right place.

Got dog measured - she decided she was going to squat instead of standing up straight but a large amount of fresh cooked sausage plus being in the middle of the height range for 500 jumps sorted this. And we'd been practicing forever and the practice last Wednesday went well...

Ran in Agility Novice standard mock, and stuffed it up. And dog peed on course. I went to the toilet before we ran but she didn't, sigh. Not like we didn't try but I will have to do better next time. It was a very intimidating couse and the things I thought we'd get right like going through the tyre in a straight line between two ordinary jumps - we stuffed, but the things I thought we'd stuff up, we got right, like coming out of tunnel and having fun scramble closest instead of turning back to less fun jump.

There was a lot of "distractions" ie you'd do one obstacle and there would be several in front and only one would be right. Jumps were correct distance from one to the next but another bit of the course would be right next to the bit you were doing now. We didn't stuff any of this up. Woo hoo. We did miss some contacts - got some work to do there, and the weavers were less than wonderful, but I knew that would happen too. She did not nick off to say hello to her friends or go sniff - wooo hoo. I have mixed feelings about the course. Having done way better than I thought, the next challenging course I encounter will not be so intimidating. Which has got to be a good thing. I also need to pay more attention to the little things that are usually easy.

Ran in Jumping novice. Went much better. I think it would have been a clear round / pass if it had been a scoring comp. Only one minor point of oops - where I forgot where we were going next (got it right) and she gave me a hurry up on the bum. Some more work to do there. Ie I should learn the course and then run it as fast as I can as part of "walking the course" cos dog is not going to accept anything less. And I should quit "rewarding" hurry ups. Maybe a "drop" would work as an incompatible substitute behaviour.

Quick one from me - Kenz managed her first novice obedience quallie in only her second trial last night. Good little girl especially considering the last 4 months have been injury plagued and we are both thoroughly fed up with reduced training time. Fingers crossed she can pick up those 2 remaining passes shortly for her title and we can move up to playing with the big kids in Open. Can't wait. :( .

 yes well we know exactly what Kenz thinks of her DB don't we. She LOOOOVES HER DB. Although she isn't so keen to play DB around scary Keith - maybe she thinks he wants to steal it :noidea: .

Although have to say I might be willing to trade a novice pass for a sound dog at the moment - she was one very sore little girl by bed time last night . Given all that I am surprised she managed to hold her sit stay - she wasn't comfortable with it at all.

LOL xena98 - they do like to test us out, don't they - but lovely score in Open. And congrat on the Novcie pass with Kenz, ness.

First agility trial for the year here this weekend = good weather, fun courses, and fabulous dogs - not ours so much - our interstate visitors - stunning. Miss Kirra and I managed to lower our DQ percentage  , and even snag a couple of Qs - 4th in Open Jumping yesterday and 3rd in Masters Agility - pleased with the way we improved over the weekend - bits of some of our runs were a blast - and after having major seesaw problems lately and yesterday, she nailed them today. My partner and I went clear in Masters Pairs -but sadly - 4 seconds over. :noidea:
