poodlefan
Banned from import into the country. Restricted (banned) breed in most if not all states. Don't think you'll find anyone recommending a breeder here, even if the dogs are in the country. Why not go for a legally permitted breed? Dogsfevr
What dog breeds cannot be imported into Australia? Certain breeds are prohibited under the legislation of the Australian Customs Service (ACS). The following pure-breeds (both neutered and entire) are not eligible for import: * Dogo Argentino * Fila Brasileiro * Japanese Tosa * Pit Bull Terrier or American Pit Bull * Perro de Presa Canario or Presa Canario

Thanks , i will point out the corso ... think he is taken with the look of the preso dog and the fact it had origins from canary island , not alot of known health issues . Paptacular!
There are a few breeders listed on the DOL breeds list on the main part of the site.
KatrinaM
Tell your friend to be careful of those who have "Presas" for sale here. There is always somebody willing to charge a whole lot of money for a dog that looks like what it is claimed to be as a pup but grows into something different. In recent times I have met three people who think they bought banned breeds, all paid a fortune, all were ripped off. One man has fake paperwork claiming his dog is from dogs imported from a well known overseas kennel. The dogs in question have never left the breeders yard. Another was told he had to pay to have a dog delivered by yacht to a remote costal location so it could be secretly smuggled in. The other only paid $5000 to buy and have a dog imported, including all his shipping and quarentine. I wish I could get a dog that big over that cheap! Its funny how the dogs now look much like cross breds that can be legally obtained and owned in Australia.
Nekhbet
presa canarios are in a whole different class to Cane Corsos ... although also not a dog for the newby owner I'm kind of glad in a tiny way we dont have presa canarios here in Australia. We cant even handle the basic breeds we have let alone such a specialised, primitive breed known for its ferocity. Think of it this way, a totally untrained dog from the show ring does this in its second session with a trainer (saying all that I would LOVE to own one :D) happypaws Ataraxia kennels breed South African Boerboels, they're in NSW. They also breed Dogue de Bordeauxs. Edited January 20, 2011 by Nekhbet

Exactly. You wont find a Crso here that would be half as good as an average Presa.JMHO Tell your friend to look for something else there are no Presa's here full stop and no remnants worth speaking about.
