Mim
Someone with more knowledge (Ptolomy?) could really say but all the tollers I have met (two! ) have been lovely calm, easy going dogs and I would certainly describe them as 'happy go lucky'. I have met a few that didn't fit that description! Ah, ok. Maybe I met some unique tollers

I have met a few that didn't fit that description! Ah, ok. Maybe I met some unique tollers I know of a couple of Tollers that would suit Toby and a couple that wouldn't I would not like to take such a chance because having two dogs that can't live togther and having to rehome one is one of the most awful things anyone can go through. I am not in any rush, and I did even ask if Toby would at all suit living with another dog. We are having an extended playdate later this year as a trial run with a dog that fits this description but is sadly of a breed not really compatible with agility and obedience that I will one day own but is wrong for what I am currently looking for
RallyValley
Spinone are quite big! (I have only met one so I had to double check). I have read that beause they are so placid they can be hard to train, because they don't see the point of doing things. Where are you Monah? BMAK
A newf......All my newf's raised from puppy and most the rescue's except one, have been the most laidback, cool, easy going dogs. They are polite with other dogs and love to meet and greet. But not in an awful rough manner. Definitely not nervous or stressed. even my rescue girl who was dog and people aggressive has reverted back to being a real newfie again. But I know newf's are definitely not for most people Just read the agility bit...I do some agility, but we will never be winners my girl is scared shitless of newfy's she has been jumped on a few times by different newfy's and has never ever recovered. I'm not one to baby any of my dogs either as she was off lead and had to handle it on her own shes never been then same around bigger dogs. hoping your dogs are nice though haha. Sometimes the same breeds think a like and get along well as they have similar insticts ..i would be doing some research on another dog similar to what your dog bonds well with. A show kelpie may be a little more low maintanence and quieter "don't take my word ". everytime i go somewhere like a park or beach my dog (female working kelpie) always locates a fast moving breed and 90% another kelpie or border collie she is very independant. always makes me think of " great minds think alike" and my other kelpie loves a poodle the only dog he genuinely likes and he hates dogs in his face or bubble and cav's are another breed who are typically quite shy and submissive around other bigger dogs (so sweet) hope you find a breed!! something smaller then your male that is female is my best advise i can give you from my knowledge of a similar breed and temperment

corvus
A Finnish Lapphund. They are usually very socially intelligent. I have sworn several times I should be hiring Kivi out for help rehabilitating other dogs. He seems to know just the right way to approach a leery dog. He's as sweet as can be, very laid back, but loooooves to play. When he's not playing he's often snuggling. He is at the low drive end of the spectrum, but even him you could get doing agility and he'd be great at obedience. The girls tend to be a bit more active than the boys, I think. Or maybe I just know more girls than boys.

Where are you Monah? easy to train, and I'm no trainer not that big, the boys are larger than the girls though. My girl is 36kg. she can do agility etc. and anything else. THey love to please, cannot handle any 'rough' training, her nickname is Baby and she's 4!! she's my Angel.

I always pictures Spinone's as a bit smaller... there are only 4 breeders listed on DOL so I imagine the wait time for a pup, especially a show quality bitch with the right attitude for sports would be considerable wait! (Not that I am in a rush at all, the complete opposite actually ) I now one of the breeders really well & her girl is simply gorgeous ,easy going.laid back but once out in the water & playing field dog she is a gem she just hasa great on/off switch I would say they are similar in an English Setters nature being soft & requiring a gentle hand but far less needy & in your face. There are some in Perth but sadly the owners no longer show & they where imports from Italy (unless they have moved again) . A breed that many gundog owners world wide down size to are the Petit Bassett Griffon Vendeen(PBGV) very gundog like but still having that hound attitude. There are a few obedienced titled in Oz & tracking titled

RallyValley
I might have to breed stalk the Viz club and have a chat: http://web.mac.com/vizslawa/vizslaperth/Home.html I have met one of the ladies running the club at a show training class and chatted with her. There are a few obedienced titled in Oz & tracking titled This from the DOL breed page: Being a ‘scent-hound’, unless taught from an early age to come on command, they should not be’ let off the lead’ to run in unsecured areas, as once they get their noses on a scent, their natural instinct to hunt, quickly takes over worries me a little. I like to take my dogs for offleash walks through the bushland adjoining my house for exercise... a PBGV may be a bit too houndish Why are all these laid back dogs wire coats or very short coats as well ? Girly Greyhound? Definately does not suit. I want a breed to do sports with...
The Spotted Devil
Working Springer of course! Em is full on and loves playing with Ziggy but one (well deserved) grumble from him and she immediately submits until he can't resist her adoring eyes and wagging tail - takes about 5 seconds Easy care coat, runs like the wind (all day!), loves to learn and is just a pleasure to snuggle with on the couch. Note: I don't allow dogs on the couch...well I didn't before Miss E
Sayly
Would a small to medium size dog interest you or were you just looking at medium to large dogs? Are you dead against wire coats? Some of the most laid back dogs we have in our playgroups at work are Bassets but I don't think they suit the sports side! Goldens and Dallies are often the dogs are work who are in everyone elses faces.
Mrs Rusty Bucket
Munsterlander ? (small I think) One of the last dog trials I went to - this was the most laid back and successful dog. Burkes Backyard fact sheet declares them "nervous" and prone to dog aggression - so based on those fact sheets being all wrong as usual... they'd be calm and laid back and not interested in other dogs - which is what I observed. Have also seen this with Brittany spaniels.
