Order Of Titles On Pedigree

 Share

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anybody knows if there is a particular order that titles show on your dog's pedigree?

I was wondering if they get appended in the order you get them, or are they ordered by a pre-defined discipline order for everyone? Or something else?

If they get appended in the order you get them, what about those titles that "upgrade"? For eg. If a dog has CD, then they were to get their JD, I assume they'd be CD JD, but then what if they gets their CDX? Will it be CDX JD or JD CDX?

It's late, I'm bored, hence the really weird question! But I've seen people with several titles and there doesn't appear to be any sort of order to them, so curiosity is getting the better of me.

I don't think it really makes any difference at all what order you list them in so long as everything applicable is included there. So you cant forget to put your AD title on the list then enter ADX...

Mine at the moment according to their paperwork are:

Charlie AFCH JDX GD SD SPD

Delta FDCH AD JDX GDX SD SPDX

Yet on one certificate they had Charlie's AFCH (Australian Flyball Champion) before his name like you would for a normal championship title and on some of the ones they give me titles are actually missing from them. But so long as you list the appropriate titles on entry forms it all works out as the titles are correct on their database.

Those titles on my dogs aren't in order of date in any way, as both got their JD titles followed by SPD titles, GD, then SD. Delta's AD was the last novice title to be gained, and she was already in masters for a few things by that point. I can't remember when I first bothered applying for flyball titles to the ANKC, but it was definitely after they already had a few agility titles.

Most dogs that I have seen have obedience titles first, but there are others that have them last.

I really don't think it makes any difference at all what order they go into so long as they are all there. Usually Championship titles go before the name, regular titles after.

I was told once that Obedience titles are listed before Agility titles, regardless of the order you got them and that Retrieving are after that. The order I was told in Agility was the standard classes then the same open and then the games. When I applied for titles for a while this held true but now they seem to go anywhere again. Interestingly the new UG titles appear first in the list on my boys pedigrees. So Rogan is UG CDX ADM ADO JDM JDO GDM SDM SPDM NRD RRD. As a trial secretary for agility trials, I would really like there to be a standard order, so I can more easily ensure I enter the dogs titles in the database correctly.

Yeah I've heard obedience titles are always first, but I see a lot of agility people loosing their obedience titles amongst all of those agility ones!!

I think the VCA or the ANKC just print it however you may write it on your application form.

Leo is - CDX ADX JDX SPD HT

Kitna is CDX AD JDX HT

But I have seen other variations - whether that's from teh way people write them on their entry forms or whether it's because the ANKC print it that way I'm not sure!

I think it depends to some extent at least on the computer system the canine control uses. Dogs Tas use the Dogs NSW database I think - the order seems to be determined by discipline, then alphabetical - certainly obedience comes before agility, and standard agility before Games, andtracking and herding after that then ET at the end. Looks like flyball is coming before agility - though I doubt if it woiuld come before obedience.

As far as the Ch goes, I think maybe the agreement with AFA might have been that flyball Ch would not go in front of the dog's name, but the ANKC discipline Chs do go in front.

So Kirra is

T.Ch. Khayoz Sweet Soul Music ADM2 ADO3 JDM JDO4 GD SPDX SD HIT ET

Rory has his Ch in front - now he's working on getting some letters behind  Ch Winpara Soul Dreamer

It's definitely not in the date order you gained the titles at least for multiple disciplines.

Jedi was Sandstock Littel Jake CCD ET

And when I applied for his first Flyball title, he became Sandstock Littel Jake CCD FD ET

So I think you might be right Tassie - ET goes last?

I always thought it was obedience, tracking, agility, jumping, games.

Piper's herding titles come at the end after her JD so I guess herding comes in after that. If retrieving does as well I would guess that breed specific/restricted titles are last so I would think Earthdog goes at the end as well.

In reality though I think as long as you get them on there when you enter events it doesn't really matter.

In regards to the Flyball titles... FDCH (Flyball Dog Champion) and AFCH (Australian Flyball Champion) are some of the first titles that you gain. Delta got her FDCH in her first comp from memory (it was a 2 day comp). They are far from a champion title when compared to the other sports so should not be at the front, Im guessing that whoever did my title that time didnt realise.

Here they went through a stage of just adding whatever title you just earned immediately after the name. Ended up with some very complicated orders with no real common sense.

Not sure what happens now when I applied for Kenz's JD it was added after her DWDF.S so will be interesting to see what happens when she eventually gets an AD as to where that ends up.

Yeah... Though it would be nice to see maybe the Flyball Dog Grand Champion title be recognised as equivalent to the other "Champion" titles (or another title that is up there in the points!)

Thanks everyone! You confirmed my suspisions that obedience comes first, then agility (and then others after that I guess). I'm guessing though that people tend to list their own order sometimes, usually starting with the discipline they like best :crossfingers: I've seen many agility dogs in catalogues that have all their agility titles listed and then their obedience one is tacked onto the end

In reality though I think as long as you get them on there when you enter events it doesn't really matter.

Yep for sure, though I was just curious as to if there was actually a method to the madness or not :D

I don't currently have to worry for now, I only have CD on both dogs at the current time :D But I'm planning on expanding in the future

I've been guilty of this, although less the discipline I like the best, but titles that have been what I regard as a big achievement. With so many agility titles on offer now, often my dogs name is cut off in Catalogues, and I hate to see his retrieving title missed, we worked bl**dy hard for that! ;) So I usually put the gundog titles, then the obedience, then agility :) If it was in order of what I like best, then yeah, obedience would be tacked on the end ;)

If I was to ever get a retrieving title of some sort, I would probably list mine obedience, retrieving, then agility, then anything else ;)

The amount of different agility titles on offer, everything else just gets lost in there. They lose their effect after the 10th agility title listed :)

I only have agility titles but have often wondered the same thing, especially within the agility titles. The order seems to consistently be ADM ADO JDM JDO with the games following but the games seem to come in any order. Until recently Lomani's titles finished with GD SPDX SD. But I just got her GDX title paperwork today and now it is SPDX GDX SD so who knows
