Boronia
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2011/01...m?site=brisbane Animal shelter closed because of floods Posted January 10, 2011 13:01:00 Heavy rain has also caused some localised flooding in low-lying parts of Brisbane. The RSPCA has been forced to shut its animal shelter at Dakabin as flood waters surround the facility. Manager Tanya Griffin says the animals are safe but it is too dangerous for the public. "We'll have to reassess tomorrow because we also run a council pound here so we can't stay shut for too long," she said. "We'll just reassess it as we go day-by-day I think." Curlybert
I have already donated to a flood relief fund but would very much like to donate to an animal charity that is helping out as well, if anyone knows of one. There must be many lost and distressed pets which would be adding to the trauma suffered by those people evacuated from their homes. Not to mention the drowned livestock and native animals.... Boronia
I know Curlybert...apart from the native fauna I was wondering how may worms (and bee hives) would have been drowned..no joke, it must make a huge negative impact on the fields that are used for food-crops.
