Does anyone remember Jesse the Golden Retriever from a few weeks ago? It was a repeat episode.

Broken back who had surgery at Sash?

Well Jesse belongs to my Osteopath's Secretary.

They live at Mulgoa and Jesse no longer walks with wheels

She runs around the acreage :)

They put her in the pool last summer to encourage her using her back legs and she was off like a rocket and

never looked back since

What about that woman with the black lab that had a hip replacement? Did you see how she riled it up when it first went to the car? The vet was standing there freaking out about the prosthesis coming out. Stupid woman. I don't know why they didn't sedate the dog for the journey home.

I was thinking the same thing! Then the poor dog had to come back and when he got back to the hospital he calmed right down.

Yep, so stupid- you could see she was one of those "now darling don't do that" types. I was thinking the same thing about sedation and my OH and I thought it was a good idea the dog was readmitted as the owner was not really up to his post op care.

I thought that, too. Vet did explain later that he'd had a LOT of sedatives. But why didn't they wheel him out in a crate and have her already in the driver's seat? No need for the emotional greeting and she should NOT have been alone when picking him up.

Great show though!

My OH said the same thing. I'm glad they were separated - I was almost yelling at the tv "get her away from that dog!!" :)

It certainly worked a lot better with her sitting with him in the back of the car (not legal though).

The phrase that should be remembered, by everyone, not just vets, but us as owners is : PAINFREE QUALITY OF LIFE, something often not mentioned.....the word painfree I mean....we probably all know someone out there that has kept an animal alive, on meds....with the belief that because the animal was not crying in pain, it was painfree. The cat that purrs, can't be in pain....but they can purr as they die and yes, they purr in pain.

This sort of Vet is amazing...but I look at it not just from the medical point of view but him as an engineer with the ability to see the structure needed to fix a problem, when he's got boxes of bits and wires and arcs. To combine an engineering mind with that of a vet, is astounding to me.

As for the woman with the black lab...it wasn't the dog that should be drugged, it was her that should have been.....and what ever happened about putting him in a crate to transport?

My heart really went out to that poor man. As a sleep deprived shiftworker I know what sleep depravation looks like. I'm sure he has some very frayed nerves. Just wanted to give him a big hug.

He needs to expand his practice, get some more vets there and...no offence..he needs to get a life. I'm sure he'd agree based on some of his body language and comments.

Great show....great talent.

I wanted to give him a big hug too... well, more than a big hug

He is so amazing at what he does, he does have other vets there, one did a terrific op on a tiny chinchilla :) but I should think he is the one who is capable of everything that needs to be done.

I think his staff are fantastic too, his nurses are excelllent and have great knowledge.

I think the pain patches the dogs wear after surgery also tranquilise, so the dog should not have been so out of control. I know my dogs have had them and they do make them sleepy and I've even asked about it as they are so tired..

Bartok, I think you may be thinking of another show? this guy is in Surrey in the UK. Unless it's a different Mulgoa, i'm thinking NSW?
