Emergency Vet

Hi - one of my girls is currently at her usual vet, on a drip. The next 5 hrs are critical. Won't know until tonight whether she will need 24 hr care or not; if so, I will need to pick her up and transport her from western suburbs to north.. Can anybody recommend one of the emergency vets? I've called one at North Ryde .....are they all much the same? Some better (treatment wise for ticks) or more expensive than others?

I'm thinking positively at the moment; just making plans in case I need to make an emergency dash later tonight.

 I hope your dog is ok.

I have used the Baulkham Hills After Hours Hospital and found them very good, but very expensive. Baulkham Hills is possibly closer to you as well if you are coming from the western burbs.

Thanks Anne - I live North.... she is currently an hour from home - west - (I am just a bit mad and travel a long way to the usual vet as they are very good with the breed). Vet thought it best to get her somewhere closer to home in case I needed to get to her quickly. If she's stable and doesn't need to be constantly watched, he will probably keep her. If she deteriorates, will need to move her.

No news yet. Nervously waiting for the vet to call - said he'd call around 8 to let me know whether I would need to move her for constant supervision overnight. Feels so strange missing one of the "kids". Wish this storm would go away, don't fancy driving around in this weather.

What a worry for you.

I'm assuming she's had the tick serum and support meds ?

I used to work at a vet's inland from the Central coast, and it was tick city, so many tick cases :-(

all fingers crossed for good news.

Vet just called. She has picked up and looking much better. More stable on her back legs. Little buggar chewed out the drip from her front leg. Her improvement is much better than he expected. Still not out of trouble yet, but things are looking better than they were.

Fifi - yes, had the serum, antibiotics and something else? (plus a very big haircut). Think I need a strong drink.....
