Pad Hardener

morning all,

does anyone know of a topical pad hardener of the sort that they use for racing greyhounds or gundogs working over rocky terrain that you can get in Australia? I know that you can get a couple of products online from the UK but was wondering if there was something available locally.

My chiro has told me to get a mixture from the Butcher and soak the dogs feet in it, I think it called it Brine but anytime I asked for it they didn't have it.

There used to be a product called rubbapad, which was especially formulated for greyhounds pads, but I don't know if it is still available.

I've been told Friar's Balsam does a good job but haven't needed to use it myself.

Be warned it stains, so put it on outside and make sure it's dry - the person who told me about it had lovely yellow marks on their tiles :D

The greyhound man I take my dogs to recommends Friars Balsam - and yes, definitely do it outside and don't wear good white runners if your dog is likely to stand on your feet after application!
