teekay
Happy 3rd birthday to my gorgeous girl Mya. It's not all been easy this year, you seem determined to put a few more grey hairs on my head, starting with escaping when we had only had you a week There have been more escape attempts (and more grey hairs) but, thankfully, you have made it home safe and sound. I am determined that this year there will be no more 'walkabouts'.I wish you didn't feel the urge to leave us but I do not take it personally. I know you love us, you just can't resist the call of the wild. You are a husky after all. I guess being a stray for so long didn't help matters. When we first brought you home you were so on edge. It took all day before you finally flaked out and slept, and slept, and slept, you must have been sooooo exhausted. It was a long time before we saw your tail wag, but when it finally did we were overjoyed :party You have a way of looking deep into my eyes that just melts my heart, I love you my gorgeous girl. Last night I was thinking about how you came so close the death this time last year and cannot thank Rover Rescue (K9 Angel) enough for saving you and loving you back to health So here are a few (ok more than a few) memories of the year :D ETA Link to original rescue story, for those interested : http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...=185582&hl= My Mya All tuckered out (such a neat and tidy sleeper - unlike Jenna) Zoomies I'm gunna eat your face! Or maybe the other end Jenna: "Please play with me" Oooooooo this dirt is comfy Never EVER leave your chips unattended Pretty girl Edited January 1, 2011 by teekay
OSoSwift
Happy birthday Mya looks like you have landed in doggy heaven. Now be a good Husky and stop trying to escape okay - you are taking years of your mums life with all the stress. Heres to one great year down and many, many, many more to come. Loving my Oldies
Isn't it a wonderful story? I started to read the old thread earlier today, but had to drag myself away to get ready to go out. I can now get back to it.
k9angel
Happy 3rd Birthday Mya XXX Hope you had a lovely day girl. And Thank you Teekay for opening your heart and home and letting her be a part of your family. You were in regular contact right from the very start - I knew YOU's were the right home for her. She is very lucky to have such a caring, committed & dedicated family. I cannot thank you guys enough. Please pass on an extra hug or two to Mya today and ofcoarse a big kiss from all of us. XXX I still remember the day I first laid eyes on you Mya. You were so so thin. ;) It was your last day - you were on the next days put to sleep list. I went to the pound to pick up one dog and came home with 2. I couldn't let you die. I also remember when Mr Teekay came to pick you up early that morning. Goodbyes are always hard, but some are harder than others and you were expecially hard to let go of. But I knew you were going to a home where you'd be loved and taken care of for the rest of your life and I couldn't ask for more than that. You so deserved it after the horrible start to life you had. I often think about you girl and whenever Jack see's a white husky he always calls him/her "Mya". Hope you had a lovely Birthday. Love ya girl, and be good for your Mummy. Rach & family XXX ETA: They are gorgeous pics Teekay. I was when I was going through them. Happy tears ofcoarse. harley
Mya sure is beautiful! It was pretty amazing to watch her story unfold here on DOL, and to see such a happy ending is wonderful!
Loving my Oldies
Quote is from the original thread: I took them both for a walk this morning (first one on my own as hubby has been helping over the weekend) and they were great. Only problem is, I haven't seen a single soul on our walks so I haven't been able to show them off I've re-read the whole original thread through again. We have seen some spectacular transformations on DOL and Mya is one of them. Those two girls are so gorgeous and I reckon by now the emboldened bit is a very distant memory and you are probably deluged with exclamations of delight when you walk Mya and Jenna together, Teekay. teekay
Glad you liked the pictures Rach, Mya is a stunning looking dog now that's for sure. She's still a fussy eater and will never be a fatty but you can't feel her hip bones any more when you stroke her and compared to this time last year, her transformation is remarkable I had a read of the old thread too, had a little especially at your poem Rach. We do get stopped an awful lot on walks MM, a few people even ask us if they are the same breed duh. I've lost count of the amount of people who either ask us if we A) wash them in Persil, B) are they difficult to keep clean? or tell us C) they're sooooo WHITE. I don't mind though, I love it when people just look at them and smile though. It's nice to bring about some joy in this world, even if only for a moment. luvsdogs
Happy Birthday to Mya for yesterday. I feel as if we (Tilba & I) have so much in common. Tilba's mother's name is Myia. Tilba will be 3 on 19th Jan. I too had many tears in my eyes reading Mya's story & it took my interest even more when it was mentioned that she was found lost in Merrylands, another co-incidence. So glad she has found a loving home.
