Fordogs
Do puppies get colic? One of my puppies is whinging a lot today, just won't settle. She is feeding ok weeing and pooing. When I pick her up and pat her back she is fine and falls asleep but within a few minutes she is whinging again. Mum is starting to get upset. Any ideas as to what I can give her if it is colic? They are now 10 days old and all have more than doubled their birth weight. Sorry (spelling Collic) I know better Edited December 23, 2010 by Fordogs
Miranda
I've had pups like that, they were usually the piggy ones who suckled until they nearly burst. When you pick them up they feel like balloons.
alotanewfs
We have used "Bauers Stomach Calm" with great success for colic bubs. It is available from Chemist, it is for human babies but safe for use with puppies.
Shazzapug
I use Buscopan (all natural) from the Chemist for all tummy upsets in my Pug babies.....works everytime....half a tablet for up to 2 weeks, once weaned a whole tablet.
Fordogs
Thanks, didn't think of Buscopan. Never had the problem before.
SwaY
I had a puppy who would cry after feeding, turns out she would eat to much causing pressure on her diaphragm. If I held her head up and bum down she would stop crying, If I laid her down she would cry. To confirm this I reverse tube feed her, I would insert the tube and remove some milk from her stomach. No more crying puppy.
scrappynsuzie
Infacol infant drops recommended by my vet and used with success, along with holding puppy upright, massage to tummy and some heat to abdomen
dancinbcs
The only one I ever had was on Gripe Water as recommended by the vet and circular tummy rubs. It took a week for my baby to settle down.
