Young Stud Dogs

I let them mix together in a smallish area & just watch them. If he looks like he is having trouble

kicking his leg over her back then I will assit him then sit on the ground & hold the bitch as she usually

tries to roll over or something silly, plus they like the reassurance I think.

I always try to put virgin studs to experienced bitches. Not always possible but easier.

The dog will figure it out but may take a couple of days to get there.

Help for dog not needed, only be there & help if things go amiss & don't let dog exhaust himself.

I find that once they actually get the knack 1st time the next time they are much better & quicker to get the girl.

I have 2 stud dogs both were virgins mated to virgins, and they worked it out just fine.

My import boy who is the sire of my current litter of 11, looked a bit lost at first, but I just let him work it out, and there was no stopping him. Mother nature gives them a guiding hand, just be close enough if they get into trouble. Good Luck

Hi all,

It has been quite some time since I have had a young stud dog and well, I kind of forgot what I did with my other one. Do you help your virgins? or do you just let nature take its course?

Many thanks

Oakeydoak

I prefer to let nature take it's course but keep an eye on things to ensure that all is calm. Assisting only serves to stress the boy out in my breed and a calm boy is going to perform much better.
