GABBA
I'm wondering if anyone has brought their dog to Australia from a non-aqis country (that is a country that Australia does not allow pets to be imported from). If so, what was the process and how difficult was it? Any additional information will be helpful.
SparkyTansy
I have a friend who moved with her two weimaraners to a non-aqis country. To remedy being able to get back in, she moved to France for a year! Sorry i can't help you with more information... have you tried contacting Aqis direct? Miranda
To bring in a dog from a non-aqis country the dog would have be a resident in an aqis approved country for six months prior to export to Australia. However you would have to find an aqis approved country that would accept a dog from the non-approved country eg. if you were living in Nigeria (non-aqis country) you would have to find an aqis approved country that would allow importations of dogs from Nigeria. spitzbaby
If you don't plan to stay in an aqis approved country, your dog can be boarded there but it is very costly.. Last time I asked they say it is in the 8k if not more.
Kelpie-i
My best friend used to work in animal transport and from what she tells me, there are some countries that Australia will not allow importation from at all and from others, we require a heap of medical procedures, paperwork and quarantine time. Which country?
GABBA
Yeh, from what i have been reading on http://www.daff.gov.au/aqis/cat-dogs its very difficult, I would have to keep the dog in a AQIS approved country for 6 months, and then i would be able to bring it here. But of course, by then, it wouldnt be a puppy. The country i had in mind was India/Pakistan.
