Cometbreeze
Hi 61 dayz now and waiting for the first stage of labour, Just started measuring temp yetaerday it started at 37.8 @ midday then 37.3 @ 10pm, Today 37.1 then 36.5 and @ 3pm 36.8. So not sure if thats a temp drop or not as it gone back up a little? We just went for a little walk and i noticed a very light green discharge, should i be concerned? She has been happy just lying around sleeping today and is off her bickies for the last couple of days but is eating her raw chicken in the evening. She is a maiden and so am i Does all this seem normal?
Bulldust
Hi Cometbreeze Looks like she has had a temperature drop. Regarding the discharge, i have never had a bitch have green discharge...ive had a bitch have a puppy which its placenta & amniotic fluid was green but never green discharge before the puppies are coming out. If it were me id go to the vets for a check up... lets see if there is any breeders more experienced who can set you straight with this...good luck
Sayly
Dark green discharge before a pup is a bad thing, is it like mucus green?
Shazzapug
Green is not good....it is still early enough in WA to go to the Vet.

winpara
I have had a bitch who had very pale green discharge for nearly a week before she whelped. The first and so far only one ever to do this. Was an older bitch and a biggish litter and she started out ok but did need a caesar for the last two pups (was probably just coincidental rather than anything to do with the discharge). Anyway all pups were fine except for one of those last two - but again I think that was probably due to a somewhat inexperienced/incompetent vet rather than the discharge. (Not our usual vet - put dog far too deeply under and also took a lot of time stuffing around looking at the uterus rather than getting the second pup out) If it is correct, that temp drop should indicate labour within 24hrs. If she was mine and did not start making a move by morning I would visit the vet for an ultrasound and progesterone test to check the pups are ok and see where shes at. Good luck
SoL
It's never to late to call a vet - you should have notified him/her beforehand anyway with a pre-whelp check-up and they should have given you an out of hours number to call.

Cometbreeze
How did you go? Never too late to call the vet! Yes called the vet and he told us to sleep on it as it is an hours drive to them and see how she goes overnight, and to call back in the morning if no signs of labour. Slept near her last night and was happy all night sleeping, other than licking me at midnight for wee time she looks well, wet nose, coloured gills and wandering a little looking around and she has scratched in box very lightly. So am going to call agian soon and tell him all still the same with the same temp aswell of 36.
Aziah
I'd be taking her in for a check, regardless of distance...does she still have the green discharge?

Cometbreeze
Any news :D Yes , we went vet and while waiting she lost her fluid in waiting room, so i thought that would be right, hahaa anyway ultrasound was ok vet said puppies heart rate was not stressed and said early labour has started and her temp was 37.5 so he gave me 2 options. 1, C -section while your here 2, Prog test and take her home and wait for result I took 2, She was keen to get of there and i to thought well i have to give her a chance to do it all naturaly so thats what we will do. At home now she is quiet again, panting but not heavily with a temp of 36.9. i'll ring vet at 4pm for prog test results and see how we go
