annie99, I am not jumping onto any bandwagon, simply stating what others have said above too - read the last 5 posts

When you've got the likes of PH failing to be able to comply with council requirements after 18 months of council working with them and treating them pretty damn well, then it plays right into the argument that rescue groups need to be regulated because they can't be trusted to do the right thing any other way.

I keep saying this. Rescues will be judged by the worst of their number, not the best. Right now, PH appears to be making a very good case for the need for licensing and regular inspection because it appears they cannot be relied on to comply with current requirements on numbers or paperwork. That's not good for the wider rescue scene in Victoria. frown.gif

If it turns out in the future that the longest PH can house a dog is 28 days before compulsory euthanasia, then the seeds of that situation lie with them.

I am sure you know about the situation we have in Vic here already with the previous government wanting to make rescuers have limits etc and enforcing those, and no guarantee that the new gov won't also have the same thing suggested, this situation just plays into the hands of those who want to see these laws imposed to make rescue work even more harder to accomplish.

Their last facebook update was that the council is not letting them open until possibly tuesday next week.

ETA: Extract from Facebook Page

"Trish responded to the councils wishes, it was thought a permit was going to be reissued today - this did not happen even though we have done as asked. The council said they wanted this to be resolved yet they think next Tuesday may or may not be the day. Trish is dying, she is a complete basket case, she is trying to be brave but lost it today"

Hmmm, she needs to pull herself together and organise her troops. She can collapse when all the dogs and cats are safe and all her foster carers know what they need to be doing to keep their charges safe and well.
