Collstar
Ben my dog did an odd thing a few days ago. during his walk at the park and he found some coal (looked like it had been dumped there) and he started licking it and then gnawed at it! could this be becasue he is lacking in some mineral? or was he just testing to see if it was edible or not Edited December 11, 2010 by Collstar

smooch
Not really sure but might be the charcoal content they are after.
GeckoTree
Well if its the briketts that some one dumped from an ad hock bbq it could be the taste of lamb chop fat drippings too lol Mine sometimes has a chew on wood coal too. You can get charcoal tablets for stinky fart control to take that is supposed to help, maybe its self medicating?

The stuff they use for BBQ I think have some type of lighter fluid added to them as they light up as soon as you put a match to them, real coal doesn't.
