Growling While Playing

Hi,

I am just wondering what's the view on puppies that growls while playing? (with me)

He has never growl on anything else, me taking the food, other dogs moving past, humans moving past etc.

But when he goes nuts and does zoomies.. sometimes between his playtime with me.. he will let out a growl while zooming around..

is that something that is normal?

When Kyza was a baby, he used to grunt and growl as he ran around doing zoomies

The growls were never directed towards anyone in an aggressive way, so it didn't bother me.

oh! good point.. it wasn't directed at anyone.. just random grr grr here and there while zooming around..

so not to worry? it's just my parent's are with the thought that any growling = dog is angry and about to bite you..

Emmy does it... she growls at everything, not just play.

Preparing for bed, eating something she really really likes, chasing bugs...

Dogs vocalise a lot ! It's very normal for your dog to make noises when playing

I was worried it was aggression but others have assured me that its just them being vocal

The only times my dog growls is when she's playing tug with my son's dog. The same thing with the previous dogs. You never want to stop a dog growling as it's a warning that they aren't happy, not in a play sence.

Akira's the same. Spitz tend to be very vocal dogs so you'd normally expect growling during play.

Hamlet still does it ..races around the house with a dead stuffed toy, growling and mumbling.... he's 7!!

My puppy growls all the time when she is playing, especially when we play chasey but she does this high pitch growl, sometimes it sounds like she is giggling

when I hear her do it, it makes me laugh so she does it again.

my pair do it when they are excited, will whale and growl with soft toys in their mouthy and when people enter the home when they are happy and excited to see them, sounds a bit loud but we know they are harmless and just want to be heard.

glad im not the only one with growly dogs.
