Brennan's Mum
A friend posted this video on her Facebook, and to be honest it left me horrified. It is the behaviour of a judge and the way she handles a dog at a show in Spain. Not being familiar with showing, I thought I may post it here to see whether it is 'not normal'/ 'abusive' or whether it is part of the norm, and I am just reacting based on being unfamiliar with the showing worl ( particularly the showing of smaller breeds). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRyREk20v7w...layer_embedded#! Personally I find this behaviour by the judge horrific, the poor dog looks completely and utterly scared
dunnwarren
I saw that too. If that was my pup I would have picked him up and walked out of the ring. Can't imagine any show person putting up with that behavior from a judge. She should have been reported, probably ruined a nice puppy for life. Poor little dog didn't even want to walk back to her. Disgusting!!!! And NO it is not normal for a judge to act like that. Edited December 3, 2010 by dunnwarren
Kirty
What the hell was she trying to make it do??? The poor dog looked very confused?? I have never seen a judge be rough with a dog like that, and why was she trying to hang its legs off the table?
raz
Unbelievable.
espinay2
No this is not normal behaviour. Not here nor in Spain where the judge is from. I understand this isn't the first time she has done it but that this video is being used in a case against her. From what I understand something is most definitely being done about it. The video has certainly done the rounds internationally and got a lot of exposure! I think 'gone viral' is the right term Edited December 3, 2010 by espinay2
Brennan's Mum
Ahh okay..see I was fairly certain that this would not be acceptable, but my only experience in watching shows has been with big dogs like German Shepherds. It's just a shame for the poor dog. I had heard a rumour she had been pulled up on this behaviour..but gee it's not good.
Blakbelgian
Why oh why is the handler letting her do that to the dog? As soon as she started I would of asked her to stop!! No wonder the poor dog didn't want to walk towards the judge. If I was the fellow behind her I would told the steward (if there is one) that she is not touching my dog!! Did she handle the following dog in the same manner? BB
Ons
:D :D the owner is doing nothing! I cnt belive that! that poor little dog ;)
OSoSwift
That is revolting. She would have been told to take her hands off my dog! I think she is tipping the pup over the fron tof the table in some sort of attempt to get it to stand back from the edge??? maybe trying to tip it off to get it scared enough to stand still??? Beastly woman. Not sure?? all she did was terrify the poor thing. In credit to the dogs temperment it actually went very well until it had to go back to her which is not suprising at all. I wonder if it ever would stand on the table again without freaking out?? I hope she gets suspended for life
SkySoaringMagpie
Yes, the video has gone viral and I understand the judge is now the subject of FCI complaints. It's not normal or acceptable but unfortunately video of judges playing nicely with babies and settling down skittish adolescents is never going to go viral. I've seen plenty of good stuff from judges.

Sandra777
I have seen exhibitors (experienced ones) do this in training, same as deliberately setting the dog up with their back feet at the edge of the table so if they prop or pull back they will "fall''. If you consider that to be an acceptable training method or not there is no way is this acceptable from a judge in a ring - and WTF was the exhibitor thinking, if she'd done it to one of mine she would've got a gob full and the dog would've been off the table and out of the ring so fast it would've caught on fire. Got to have a rueful shake of the head though at the next exhibitor sweeping up their dog and taking it to the table - are you blind or stupid mate? Souff
You kind of feel you want to put your hands around the woman's neck and squeeze. Yes, that was my reaction. A judge with a problem.
*Bones*
Judges behavior is disgusting. Apparently not the first time. When complaints were made previously, nothing was done - no proof. Now there is proof, and it is believed she will have her license to judge revoked. An experienced exhibitor would speak to (or slap!!) the judge - a less experienced one wouldn't care to, even though they were not happy with how the puppy was handled by the judge. Hope she is banned for life. It is deserved
Ozstar
I'm sorry but I would of slapped that judge and walked off with my pup. What a way to ruin what looks like a promising pup. And if I was the guy waiting I would of walked out the ring 99% of judges I have met over the last 17 years have been great with babies, every now and again (not often at all) you will get one that is rough and I have taken my pup and walked out of the ring. There is no way I am going to subject a baby (or any of my dogs) to a judge that is rough. Leanne
dog geek
:D :D :D :D ;) :D :D ;) ;) What... Who... How....??? She practically turned that poor puppy inside out - and that looked more like it was in too much pain to walk, it's back was humped right up like it had been put out!!! Jesus wept, hope to god she never turns up here!!!!
Staranais
It looks like she was almost trying to do some weird chiropractic thing to its neck? Poor dog. How bizarre. I guess that's why she's judging tiny companion breeds, a guardian breed might have given her a new orifice for trying to do that to it.
RubyStar
OMG I was completely horrified watching that! :D What in the heck was she trying to achieve? That has really disturbed me :D
